This is the part that keeps me from getting all that excited about the Cubs stumbling in atop a terrible division; their mediocrity has layers to it. If you had told me going into the season that the Cubs were basically only going to score via gigantic dongs, man, I would have been thrilled. The reality of that, however, is not nearly as fun as I would have pictured. Their biggest weakness right now is the back of the rotation and some quality hitters that aren't hitting consistently. If they do get into the playoffs they will have Jon Lester, a potentially rounding into form Arrieta and hopefully Hendricks. And the back of the bullpen is great. It won't really matter that Lackey is a tire fire and the 5th starter is a hodge podge of middle relievers. They are almost the epitome of a get in and see what happens team. Let the Dodgers face the AZ/CO playoff winner and take your chances against Dusty Baker's Nationals with the 4 pitchers leading the league in innings pitched and a mess of a bullpen.
