what's really wild to me is how inconsequential The Ringer is Man, I miss Grantland so much and The Ringer is just some weak imitation at this point. The articles written by R. Jazayerli on the Cubs for Grantland are some of my favorite articles of all-time. He continued writing for The Ringer, but I haven't seen an article from him in a long time. Simmons has really fallen off as well. His mailbag used to be somewhat funny and enjoyable. I have no idea what happened to him... Whatever it was it happened a decade ago. He was unique and fun in the late 90's early 00s. But he was neither by the time the Red Sox and Patriots were winning every other year.

They can't all be in best shape of their life in spring training, some guys have to be ready to start a new chapter in their life or face the season with a new purpose.

Highly doubt that and if it is go to 8/160 to lessen the LT hit and front load it. Who cares if we’re paying him $10 mil a year 5+ years from now unless there's some mlb rule/tax implication i'm overlooking (which i don't think bc it's all based on AAV anyway), there's no good reason to frontload when you can backload. money now >>>>>> money later you would front load as an incentive to a player to take a lower over AAV to protect you from the tax hit. He gets more money sooner, which has more value, while you avoid tax hit.

i feel like the blackhawks backlash has been pretty quiet compared to the Redskins, Indians, Chief Illiniwek etc. is there a reason for that? other than hockey just not being as popular as the other sports? or is there pushback that i just haven't seen? the chief wahoo and redskins are cartoonishly racist, while the others can more realistically claim they are honoring people.
