  1. Chicago doesn’t have a pass rush their defense is reliant on the secondary as the only standout area the roster is definitely average. If Caleb takes a leap they can win more than they lose but they aren’t going to Eagles anybody.
  2. Uh, yeah. Those are two returning 10 win back to back division champs. Chicago has averaged 5 wins per season for three years running and added exactly nobody this offseason. Their entire hopes rest on a new head coach/play caller and a second year qb ascending into his expected/hoped for ability.
  3. Blackhawks sign goalie Stanislav Berezhnoy to a two year contract. Presumably he’ll be backing up Commesso in Rockford. But Söderblom remains unsigned and opted for arbitration and it’s possible one of their goalies get moved
  4. After opening on the road at Florida the. Boston, Chicago comes home to face Montreal in the home opener. the weirdest stretch is a west coast trip with just 4 games in early December but 2 back to back at LA. They wait until April to face San Jose twice in 9 days. I most likely wont be seeing them live until they make the NY/NJ/PHI trip in late march. Saturday march 14 in Vegas could be fun.
  5. Frondell signed his ELC. There’s been contradictory chatter from beat writers about the plan for Frondell, some insisting he’s going back to Sweden and others saying he may break camp with the big team. I don’t think this clarifies it’s one way or another but it would seemingly indicate the possibility he stays in the states this year is higher than some may have imagined
  6. Don’t believe the extension is for 5, just that he’s tied to bears for next 5, which is probably a 3-4 year extension. He certainly doesn’t “deserve” it but he’s lined up with Johnson so whatever happens happens
  7. I wish you didn’t link to the article. I thought it was an article criticizing t it
  8. $750k in NIL helps. I think the easy answer is there are not many D1 brand name schools with a varsity team. And now that CHL players are eligible for college hockey there’s a big influx of talent and not many places to go. PSU is one of what, six big ten teams, and only about 60 total D1 teams. It shouldn’t be that hard for them to recruit against Maine, New Hampshire or North Dakota.
  9. Nikolaj Ehlers to Carolina for 6/51
  10. Gambling on sports by douche bros should absolutely be banned. Make those incels prove they haven’t thought of shooting up a school before they can make a second deposit
  11. Kurashev signs with San Jose
  12. Dominic Toninato on a 2 year 2 way contract AHL depth
  13. LA getting pretty aggressive and pretty old, signing Perry, Ceci, Dumoilin, Armia, Forsberg.
  14. They were already over after Burakovsky. currently at 75m and floor is 70.6
  15. The third time Davidson has traded for lafferty. Not sure why they needed another 4th line forward
  16. From their recent “worst value contract” article. For reference, most teams have 2-4 names on their list. Chicago and Detroit have 7. Florida and Winnipeg had none. Montreal had 9 Columbus Blue Jackets Most Inefficient Contracts in 2024-25 Damon Severson +1 $6.25M 6 Damon Severson: The Blue Jackets’ cap sheet is pretty clean compared to most teams that miss the playoffs. Damon Severson’s deal (six years remaining at a $6.25 million AAV) is the exception — he’s been deeply inconsistent and mistake-prone — and you’d toss Elvis Merzlikins (two years left at a $5.4 million cap hit) in as well if you included goaltenders. Other than that, Columbus has done well not to saddle itself with overpaid veterans.
  17. The athletic hates it: Defenseman Ivan Provorov signs a seven-year deal, worth $8.5 million in average annual value, with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Uhhhhhhhhhh. Honestly, the contract grade could end there; it’s hard to find a more apt feeling than complete and utter confusion. On paper, Provorov’s new contract is one of the most baffling contracts in recent memory and it feels almost impossible to spin this in any positive light. For almost any team this would be a back-breaking deal that would be difficult to make up for with other savvy bets. This is an immediate albatross that Provorov will have an extremely difficult time living up to.
  18. Try and keep up
  19. Kind of glad Florida is running it back. They get the PED guy and the 37 year old rat on a 6 year deal. They will probably be a threat again next year, but back to back to back is a lot of hockey for their aging core and has to take a toll. I assume this won’t end well. But let em enjoy it while it lasts
  20. Thumbs down for boringness.
  21. Hoping Cumby sticks around for a while
  22. When you give away real nhl talent like Debrincat, Hagel, Strome etc in the name of tanking so you stockpile picks but then you just start giving away pics because you have too many picks to use and have no realistic shot of being good for years then it’s kind of a waste of resources. but at least Danny is on board
  23. If the cubs had as many first round picks as Davidson has they’d have two World Series wins since Epstein left NHL prospects take time to develop. But no real prospect spends 6 years in the minors. You have to know what you have by year three because of the way contracts work. And the Blackhawks have a bunch of unknowns
  24. Frondell isn’t a for sure guy. He’s been described as much higher risk reward than other guys in same area. He’s definitely a guy that could never play much nhl hockey. Or he could be a star. Buts he’s not a safe contributor
