  1. Mike and the Mad Dog are talking about some controversy with, I believe, the training staff and some sort of marketing strategy. It sounds like they believe the new trainer is involved in some sort of fitness company, and the Yankees are partnering with them on some venture. There's stories of the players not liking the workouts and the guy not having much knowledge about baseball.
  2. Any chance Marshall gets the callup over Guzman? Lou won't be able to break up the lefties!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It'll be interesting to see who gets the call. I'm guessing they'll go without a 5th this weekend, then wait for the 12th and see who looks best. Iowa has a game Monday, which would allow Marshall to come back on 4 days rest and get one more outing before the 12th, when he'd be on 4 days rest again.
  3. I just noticed the change and was worried it was health related. 2 series in a row baby. Win the next 3 very winnable series, and they are 18-17 heading into the tougher part of the schedule. Need to stock up on wins against Washington, Pitt and Philly.
  4. I'd let him keep going. He's not some young buck who hasn't been exposed to many major league innings. He's expendable in the long run. I'd see if he can finish the 9th pretty quickly, but maybe get somebody warm just in case.
  5. Personal flaw? He hit his wife. Obviously it happened in the past, otherwise it never would have happened. He's a wife beater. A complete scumbag. It's completely different from being a drug addict.
  6. Jason Marquis doesn't know, and Jason Marquis doesn't care.
  7. Not classy? Since when are they supposed to be classy. Myers is a wife beater.
  8. It's getting ridiculous. It'll be interesting to see how Lou handles the double standard. So far they've treated Soriano with kid gloves, but Lou's all about having nice little talks with guys who aren't doing what he likes. I have to believe this is driving him nuts. This team has a tough enough time getting on base, and they also make far too many outs once on base.
  9. Snell is going over 90 pitches here, and they still don't have anybody warming up?
  10. How so? And Marquis barely misses a hr. How so what? Cesar doing anything more than a 1 pitch out is an accomplishment. Pirates radio guys are talking about doing promos and stuff. One guy has said, "Did I read the wrong thing?" about 5 times so far.
  11. Cesar taking 5 pitches before making an out is pretty impressive. These Pirates radio guys on XM are very confused.
  12. goaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllll
  13. Ramirez and Barrett have really cooled off just as Jones, Soriano and Floyd woke up from their slumber.
  14. I don't think so. I don't believe that he has enough power to be "very good" among leftfielders. I think he can be a little above average at the position. There were 11 teams that had an OPS over 800 out of LF last year. 9 who were over 850 and 6 over 900. 850 is probably on the low end for Murton's future OPS. But as we all know, OBP is the more important of the stats in OPS, and Murton is OBP heavy. That's a good thing. He's already above average, he could easily be very good. He'll probably never be great, but he could do what Matsui was doing at his best, 125 or higher OPS+.
  15. Are you suggesting they could/should trade one of them?
  16. Ramirez is in a seriously funk right now. I think his OPS in the last 7 is about 300.
  17. Because he's playing the least amount.
  18. When Soriano moved to LF, Murton became a bench player. Jones is the starter in right, with Murton and Floyd getting a good amount of time there as well. Murton is not getting a good amount of time in right. If you believe the back injury kept him out of the games before the off day last week, then since Soriano moved to LF Murton has started twice in right over a 5 game period. If you believe that, well, have fun. I believe in facts and the fact is Murton is getting screwed.
  19. Murton is better than Pie right now and more deserving of a starting job. Although I'm not any less annoyed that Pie is sitting, he has been getting a ton more playing time than Murton.
  20. When Soriano moved to LF, Murton became a bench player. Jones is the starter in right, with Murton and Floyd getting a good amount of time there as well. Murton is not getting a good amount of time in right.
