  1. I don't see it that way. Mike Davis was signed before they drafted Montgomery. I think DM impressed them in camp and preseason, and I think they had a plan for Davis, but Montgomery caused them to change those plans. Next thing you know, they realized they weren't using him very much and the deadline to cut him and regain a comp pick came up. And they figured the pick was worth more than Davis' 3-4 touches a game. man i would've never guessed the mike davis thing was just last year. feels like 5 years ago. To be fair there has been a Mike Davis in the league every year for the past 37 years
  2. Chicago now a 3.5 dog. Who is putting their faith into this team?
  3. Who can we get at Crawford's cost that will change that dynamic? Maybe a less terrific but more healthy goalie that costs less and put the money into improving team defense. Or find another goal scorer and make the team fun bad again, instead of bad.
  4. I don't mind it. Relying on a terrific but oft-injured goalie to carry your defensively challenged team hasn't been a recipe for success.
  5. I mean that's the new deadspin in a nutshell. They are trying to create controversy instead of reporting on it. A coach in the cubs system did a murder suicide. In any other year this would have been a HUGE story. I'm not going to bother reading zombie deadspin's take on it, but I'm not going to pretend writing about it is "creating controversy".
  6. Absolutely justified. Nagy is definitely not VERY good. He might be good, and he might be able to become a VERY good coach. But he's not very good. His handling of the kicking situation was terrible and probably raised a lot of eyebrows of players. Montgomery is quite serviceable and probably has another gear, but he's not very good either. Maybe he turns into something else on another team, but he's got 2 100 yard games in 20 games to start his career. He's a pass catching RB that has caught more than 2 in a game just 6 times. No, he hasn't had a great line and he has had to work with garbage QB play most of the time, but a very good RB should have been able to do more than he's done so far.

  8. Texans fired O'Brien
  9. Two 3-1 teams match up in front of nobody on every available television platform. The home team is a 5.5 point underdog after absolutely crapping the bed against the Colts. Chicago was a 2.5 point dog last week then went to 3.5 points, despite a lot of people picking Chicago to win that game outright. Obviously, they did not. And they never really threatened to win it either. The Bears were quite good hosts when you think of it that way, and they will probably be very good hosts this week, on short rest. Replacing Mitch so early in the season was a ballsy move that just might be ready to blow up in Nagy's face. Going 0-2 with Foles after winning with Mitch starting (not necessarily playing) has a chance to be the beginning of the end of Nagy's coaching tenure. Although I would argue the kicker obsession offseason was the real beginning of the end.
  10. Nagy still believes this defense is top 5 in the league and he’s so unbelievably conservative that he refuses to let his QBs play football. That’s probably why the Bears have 2 comebacks in the first 3 games. At some point Nagy has to open it up and the Bears respond. My question is how many games do the Bears have to be down 2 scores in the 4th until he realizes he needs a different game plan? And in the one game they were leading coming into the 4th his conservative game plan nearly cost them the game His QBs suck at football. They’ve tried throwing and can’t do it.
  11. I think they should take Chase Daniel out and play Bray.
  12. The NFC East is not that cool.
  13. 2nd and 12 is better than 1st and 20 and accepting that penalty is why they surrendered the TD.
  14. The hawks trade away some over priced defensive depth. Seems like it’s been 5 years of off seasons all about moving guys away rather than acquiring new talent. If/when they play a new season I’m guessing it won’t be much different looking of a team than this past one.
  15. He was no Musial
  16. it would be soooooo Bears to find a way to actually get worse at QB If the Bears trade for Darnold I'm finding a new damn team. if they give up a 4 idgaf
  17. hope somebody breaks the news gently to schwarber
  18. Darnold just pulled a trubisky
