  1. It's more like date night. Kind of a like a take out night and some making out and light petting during a rented movie. But then you get a call from flavor of the day Bowen and go out to "pick up some stuff you forgot".
  2. I'd say that was pretty optimistic. Seriously, I thought they'd be a little better than last year, and I think so far my assessment is pretty close. They were/are put together wrong becuase of Hendry's fetishes. I will say I've been happy with DeRosa though. I didn't predict that. I don't remember exactly what I predicted, but I think I had them in a range from 79-85 win. I really thought it wouldn't be hard to do better than the low 70's.
  3. It's hard to imagine, since I didn't have very high hopes to begin with, but this team could seriously underperform what I, the much hated pessimist, thought they were capable of doing on the downside. If they lose today, they are on pace for a 73-89 season, and I don't see any white knights coming in to save them.
  4. Who were the people who actually thought they were good in the first place? I was fooled..I admit it. Tsk. Tsk. Thou shalt not buy into NSBB hype. Wait a minute, we're writing off Fontenot (or even Theriot, for that matter) after 41 career ML ABs, in which is OPS is over 1.000? I just want to be clear about this. B/c if Fontenot is disappointing some of you with his performance so far, you really should turn off the TV, shut down the computer, and walk away from baseball forever. He's not going to OPS 1.000 for his career. He might end up being the worst player to ever play the game. But he's been fantastic in his very short ML career. To say "the honeymoon is over" b/c he's 0/2 today is the dumbest thing I've read in a while. The honeymoon started with just a couple of games. I don't see why it can't end just as quickly. For some the honeymoon began when they saw him producing very solid numbers in the minor leagues.
  5. We don't really have much better of an option. A better option would be to not use either guy every day. Cesar is putting up a line of .250/.306/.306 at SS while Theriot is .177/.253/.190 at SS.
  6. Hey, nobody got picked off. That's an improvement.
  7. Theriot is about 0 for June right now. He really needs to start sitting. He's been awful since moving into everyday duty.
  8. Has Padilla always been a slow worker? I never remember it being that much of an issue.
  9. Gameday had ball 3 slightly above right down the middle.
  10. I wouldn't want to play for the Cubs either. Well, odds are he never will, so he's got that going for him.
  11. It doesn't have to be baseball's, it could be golfballs, softballs, tennisballs. I'll take hockey pucks. And I'll go as far as to take badmiton birdies. One shuttlecock shall do.
  12. I'd consider getting rid of Soriano and his ridiculous contract. That doesn't mean I don't like Alfonso or his play this year, I just think its ridiculous to be paying him $15 million when hes 38. There is no team out there that's going to take on Soriano's contract. We're stuck with him. just like we're stuck with Marquis. Since that complete game shutout his ERA is around 5.35. Real Marquis isn't fun.
  13. This morning it was listed on channel 734 on Directv.
  14. I don't know man, Fontenot might be able to get 6 if he gets 350 at bats. If he gets the full-time 2B job, and 650 ABs, you might get 10-12.
  15. If he asked for one, they are better off. They should be able to demand 100% devotion to the franchise. This isn't small conference college football.
  16. There's always someone discovering the Minor Leagues for the first time. Be gentle. I wasn't trying to be harsh at all, just pointing him in the direction where he might get the information he's looking for.
  17. 3 Kroeger threads on 3 consecutive minor league pages. Hopefully he keeps producing so we can get one each time the pages turn over. By then he might warrent a callup. Am I the only one who thinks of these guys when this name is mentioned? http://www.siyumhaseinfeld.com/images/chars/kruger2.jpg http://www.acmewebpages.com/graphics/hulce.jpg

  20. You say that as if you're scared he'll haunt the team. He's 32 years old, has a career OPS+ of 100, and has been below that level in 6 of his 9 seasons. Even if he gets back to his 06 or 03 form, he's still nobody to fear.
