  1. he wanted the guy the jets hired as HC. Also one or two good seasons with that team will immortalize you in ways a Philip Rivers type career for 20 years never could.
  2. A 2 second act? 2 seconds to take a pic. The point being is that this is not something that would have been readily visible in the workplace - and may not even have taken place in the workplace - that only being relevant to the discussion that this act is definitively a comment on on the workplace environment. Again if someone has information that d!ck pic seminars were sponsored by the company then YES let the hell fires rain down and clean house. Discounting the fact that it absolutely takes anybody more than two seconds to decide to take a dick pick and then take thy pic and then select which pic is best and then send that pic way longer than 2 seconds, it wasn’t just the dick pic that was the problem here.
  3. How do know this wasn't the case. This was a 2 second act that could have been done regardless of the environment and easily done without anyone knowing. This isn't the copy guy walking past the women in the office without any pants on and high fiving the boss for the last 5 years. It shouldn't be tolerated in any way shape or form but taking giant leaps in logic isn't particularly constructive. Certainly if if you have other information you are privy to that speaks definitively to the work environment post away. A 2 second act?
  4. What's so hard to understand? if you are frustrated with the qb play this year, how does that make any sense on improving it next year? You get MUCH worse at the starter. resign Trubisky and roll the dice on Jones. There is no reason to get worse while trying to get better You have to try lots of options. Put a guy in a new system and who knows, he might improve. But if the worst case is you actually get worse QB play, then you'll also get a much better draft pick in 2022 and an entirely new regime to make that selection.
  5. And that doesn't sound like a QB solution for the Bears. It probably isn't, but they'll have to acquire multiple to figure this out. Might as well try to find the next Tannehill while also trying to draft a Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Lamar Jackson or other non-consensus top 10 guy.
  6. The Bears don't really have a shot unless Watson tries to steer himself to the Bears specifically. What they could do is act as a third party to acquire a QB from a team that ultimately gets Watson. Don't ask me for details.
  7. Start with multiple 1sts and build from there. They'd have no use for Mack.
  8. Theo and Jed seem to be, work hard play hard type of guys. All hires are a reflection of management, but I would have to think that they wouldn't tolerate... nevermind, they traded for Chapman and kept Russell. So yeah, I'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt. i'm not going to deny that you make a valid point by bringing up those horsefeathers. i just think those situations are considerably different than theo risking his career and reputation to sweep some dork like jared porter's creepiness under the rug. He was a supposed rising star in the organization that was allowed to leave to be an asst gm shortly after this thing happened, when they could have just elevated him to their own asst GM gig. It looks to me like they knew he was trouble and preferred to let him go. They also put no effort into bringing him back.
  9. The standings are not a particularly relevant concern for the blackhawks
  10. He just wanted to cub together
  11. Someone much smarter than me will write an article breaking down the "Belichick System" myth. This year showed us that Belichick - Brady = meh while meh team + Brady = contender Wtf?
  12. Potentially winless
  13. what was the deleted tweet from the dude with 9 followers?
  14. BTW, his wife is pregnant. :barf: is that pregnant wife different from the allegedly assaulted ex-fiance?
  15. Maybe more so; there really are two main defenses (3-4 and cover2) so defenses coordinators are maybe more expendable And at the same time there is basically a never ending supply of OC, QB coach, passing game coordinator, running backs coaches, wide receivers coaches and on and on that have all come from similar backgrounds, and if your guys go you either next man up or poach from another staff with similar backgrounds. If you have a good head coach with a defensive mind who brings in an OC that sets up the entire offensive system and gets a quality QB, you should be good. And if that QB is actually quality, and if your head coach is actually good, you should not have a problem resupplying if/when that OC moves on to a HC job. Usually you get more than one year and can judge who on your own staff is worth the promotion. Even if the OC is one and done a good HC should have a number of names in mind to make a more or less seamless transition. And it doesn't have to even be an entirely new system.
  16. And on that note, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the next Bears HC will be a defensive guy, especially if George and Ted are still involved. Trestman and Nagy will be the only two OCs to ever get a shot to run this team if Nagy fails to improve next year.
  17. I don't think I'd feel good about that hire as a Jets fan. Great defensive coach, but we've seen this before. Does he have any in game coaching skills? He's a motivator but how long does that last? Especially in NYC. His OC is going to be very important for his success. And not horsefeathering up the draft. He just feels like one of those guys that's way better as a DC, kind of like a Fangio. So many DC's turn out to be awful HC's. I think OC's are generally brighter when it comes to in-game decision making and I'd wager they've had more success overall. That rah-rah horsefeathers works on defense but doesn't translate to high IQ game management. I know that historically everybody has thought defensive coaches make better HC than offensive guys at the NFL level. We know Belichik is a defense guy, Tomlin as well. Harbaugh was a special teams guy and dabbled in some DB coaching as well prior to his gig in Baltimore. Pete Carroll was a defense guy too. Obviously some recent winners like Reid, Pederson, Kubiak and Coughlin were from the other side of the ball, and my preference is for an offensively minded HC, but there's probably not a lot there in terms of OC actually being better.
  18. We'd probably be in the same position or worse than the Texans this year and we see how that worked out despite Watson being a great QB. But regardless I'd still consider it. Youngish elite QBs are so rare, and unbelievably rare for the Bears. If you have an opportunity to get a guaranteed elite QB I think you have to push for it and hope that you can find a way to rebuild with the limitations. Anyways this would have made a lot more sense if Pace was fired. I don't see him doubling down on his draft gaffe at the possible expense of short term wins. He'd rather build an 8-8 or 9-7 team since that seems to be acceptable for George and Ted. It didn't work out for the Texans this year as their incompetent HC destroyed the team, but other than the fact that he's disgruntled and wants out they'd be ecstatic to be in their position with a young franchise QB moving forward.
  19. And now are rumored to be hiring Saints TE coach Dan Campbell as head coach.
  20. I get why Meyer would. Is it fair to assume this is a Carroll type role where Urban is getting full roster control? I would be shocked if Urban took a job that didn't offer full control. Although Khan was the guy who said he would maintain final say on rosters. Could have been carrot to offer the best of the best candidates to admit he's acquiesce.
  21. What is it about this set-up that you guys don't get? This isn't Crane and the Cubs. This isn't McDonough and the Blackhawks. Ted has football input by virtue of having direct input on who the GM is, and he's had it for decades. OK but if he was one step higher, wouldn't he still have "technical football input" by picking who the president is? No matter what the labels are, unless your owner is a football guy, there will always be a non-football guy picking the top football guy. Yes, and as I said, there's really no point to the "they should sell the team" arguments. What they can do, is replace the failed President and CEO. Organizations do it all the time, especially stagnant ones.
  22. They used to be. I think that was one of the main areas they invested in once Pace came on. From what I've looked around (whatever is listed on Wikipedia) they seem competetive size wise now. Handy link: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_National_Football_League_staffs Those looks a lot more pared down than what you see when you google each team individually and see what they post on their website.
  23. It certainly looks like they have a smaller front office based off what they list on the website, but every team seems to break it down differently. The Cowboys look like they only show Jerry and three top execs for the entire front office.
