  1. this terrible offseason knows no end
  2. They're picking us at about 78 wins, so 90+ wins seems a little excessive. I'm not sure anyone else in the NL Central will get to 90+ wins either. What happens to bets on these numbers if there are games unplayed due to outbreaks? got to play 160 unless not playing won’t affect outcome of bet
  3. When management types talk amongst themselves they reveal a lot
  4. The lost Ervin???
  5. Unfortunately not true. This isn’t British baseball you wanker. There’s a whole slew of new slappy out makers at the end of the bench, and Jason Heyward is probably due for another awful season. Plus they don’t have 5 starting pitchers in a season they’ll need about a dozen.
  6. refresh my memory, what was it about? I believe that former bears staffer and occasional XFL exec Greg Gabriel said something about suspecting the bears didn’t want Ballard since he was a part of the organization and knows what needs to be fixed?
  7. Why would they release him? He’s cheap and young, they’ll trade him for something. And fwiw, a rando ny sports talk host and thinks they can get a late 1st for him. That’s insane but it’s reasonable to assume they can get a pick for him.
  8. That price is nothing. If you give up your first it’s only if he proves to be your guy.
  9. somebody made a Stan Bowman is running the Cubs* joke a few days ago, and now it's even funnier. *Stan has a reputation for bringing back ex-Hawks at the end of their career for you heathens that don't follow hockey
  10. Take it FWIW, but one reporter (can't remember which) said that he actually had better offers and chose this one instead. Every free agent in history had turned down better offers to go to where he truly wanted to be.
  11. I'll pack his bags when he's traded for a 17 year old in June
  12. This is a nifty article on him from a month ago brings up some interesting points. It sounds like he's the reserved type who spends a lot of time studying film and isn't particularly outspoken. It also sounds like BYU was desperate for a QB and didn't bother recruiting him until they were pretty much forced to do so, which tells me they knew he was really talented, but they had concerns about how he'd fit with BYU overall. Frankly, I don't think character issues in QBs should be much of a concern. There are and have been numerous successful QBs who are complete weirdos, jackoffs, sexual predators, bigots, and outright idiots. If this causes Wilson to drop into the Bears' lap, awesome, but it's wholly unjustified unless Wilson is doing something like shooting heroin into his forehead during interviews. BYU was hesitant recruit a quiet and reserved guy? Okay, just read that article. It looks like one coaching staff had no interest but the new staff did. Also, this kid has had everything handed to him on a silver platter. I'd bet his inheritance that he'd flame out big time if taken by the Bears.
  13. where was costner?
  14. Mets wanted to make sure Kris wasn't involved with the riot before making the move.
  15. Pretty cool to have a starting OF that struggles against LHP across the board. Ideal roster building, imo. At least they have the potential to platoon basically all of them with the roster construction? Bryant has a 159 wRC+ vs LHP for his career, Marisnick at 93 plus elite defense, Ervin at 113. Would assume lineups would be something like this. Vs RHP 1. Happ CF 2. Bryant 3B 3. Rizzo 1B 4. Javy SS 5. Joc LF 6. Willy C 7. Heyward RF 8. Bote/Nico/FA TBD 2B Vs LHP 1. KB LF 2. Rizzo 1B 3. Javy SS 4. Willy C 5. Ervin RF 6. Bote 3B 7. Nico 2B 8. Marisnick CF Platoons are all well and good, but when half your lineup is based on them they are easy to exploit with decent pitching.

  17. lol come on man I mean, if he isn't pushing close to those numbers next year, you start looking for his replacement sure. But I don't see the definitive reason he wont You said 5-6 more years. Nobody counts on a RB beyond the season they're about to play, at the most. 5-6 years total would be a successful career, and he's already finished 2. And that is after a three year college career with with 700 touches.
  18. Who is Pettine knocking boots with in this scenario?
  19. jag or not, he put up over 1k rushing and 1500 total yfs, and he's 23 meaning he likely should hover around those numbers for 5-6 more years barring injury. Sure, if you can draft a Cook you do so, but RB is far from a need right now lol come on man He might have a career year in 2021, but I don't see much upside from here and then you're looking at another year or two after that before a decline. Unless you see another gear, this isn't a guy you're going to want to give a big 2nd contract to, unless you hit on a homerun in the draft that can supplement for cheap and structure the contract to get out 1 or 2 years in.
  20. this guy sucks balls but I like that last bit
  21. montgomery tweeted weird stuff about enjoying his time in chicago that has been since deleted
