    If Nagy is fired and Pace retained, I think the HC job is very low on the list of attractive jobs. Maybe bottom. If Pace if fired and Nagy retained, it's a decent job but not great. You'll inherit some quality players and should have an opportunity to replace Nagy if/when he disappoints. But you're saddled with an established coach and if that coach has any success, he'll effectively gain control of football ops and more or less override your authority. If they clean house, it's a pretty great opportunity for a GM, and maybe a little less for a HC. But at that point they've fired a 10-6 HC and another one without a losing season and 2 playoff trips. Coaches will see an ownership with a quick trigger, 4 HCs fired in 9 years.

    Two full days with no announcement, and nothing even close to a juicy scoop is strange. And no, saying people are on edge isn't a scoop.

    I don't believe there have been many rumors on that Phillips story. There was a tweet from some rando that got some play but I have not seen much of anything suggesting it's on the table, let alone imminent. It should happen, but I'm more just hoping than reading the tea leaves. Also, Pace would need an extension to get 2 more years on his contract, not sure if you were just implying that would happen. The story was from David Kaplan said on ESPN100 that he got a text from someone connected at Halas Hall. And i fully believe the story about Pace quietly getting extended an extra year to have his contract end with Nagy's. I have nothing to tell me I should believe either of these, but both seem like logical outcomes. I've started from the theory that I think they are sick of the constant turnover since Lovie left and will error on the side of stability if these guys show competence. Part of investing in young execs and coaches is the real ability to grow into the job. So I'm definitely a good target for those rumors and am happy to think they're real.

    I expressed interest in one of the fancy sections just because, and I had a rep email in December to gauge my interest for this year. I responded back that with the Ricketts showing greater interest to fund white supremacists than a competitive roster I would not be buying tickets. Got a real nice reply back from the guy too. Almost feel bad for people working there.

    yeah, biggs was on the score this morning saying he has no idea what's going on...said that the bears could have easily scheduled end of season pressers for pace and nagy with firm date/time and they haven't (just an open ended TBA), so as to suggest that it may mean something. Why does anything need to happen? They've a horsefeathers of excuses to retain the status quo besides the customary we tried real hard, made the playoffs, excuses for being terrible end of season press conference what more is necessary? Something needs to happen, bare minimum you'd expect coordinator turnover. I think best case is Philips retires and they announce a big president name. More likely they'd conduct a search.

    I've said this before but people have to realize why the Bears haven't had that luck. It's not that they are the Bears and it will never work, but it's that for the majority of their history they have purposefully been a defense first and run the ball a very close 2nd. They spent a high first on Trubisky, but they also made the mistake of having a first time GM making that pick without any input from the head coach, or anybody with an inkling of NFL offensive smarts. The Bears need a real focus on offense, not Canadian offense, NFL offense. There is a chance Nagy is that guy. Maybe he can help pick out the right draft pick. We know Pace can't. Also, everybody comments about the Packers but it's 2 times. They found a QB twice. It's not like they've found a QB every 5 years or something. They found two QBs who lasted a long time each. Prior to that the Packers were joke. They sucked for a very long time. They hired an absolutely Grade A offensive head coach and it changed the trajectory of the organization.

    You can still trade his rights, right? Yes. Though I think it has to be by a certain date? Trade idea. A tagged Robinson and a 5th for Darnold and their 23rd overall (this presumes they go Fields obviously). Would he go there? He's dealt with relative incompetence his entire career and that's the most incompetent franchise in the sport

    I think you have to franchise Robinson. Why? Desperation for talent and lottery ticket on somebody signing him, without making a huge commitment to him.

    It was him getting chewed out by the coach for falling for the think they specifically talked about not falling for, and Miller dismissed him. That's on Miller.

    Anybody aware of the timeline of previous Bears blood lettings in the offseason? From Fox, to Emery/Trestman, Angelo, Lovie, Jauron. For some reason I'm thinking they are rarely "day after season announcements" but is that true? I'm pretty sure Lovie was a Black Monday situation and in my opinion he's the closest to what firing these guys would be - competent with relative success but not good enough being the justification.

    I honestly do not see the latter happening in any way. Promoting Pace would be so bizarre. Why do it? He's young, established but not particularly accomplished. If you want to go with the prez/gm model, just hire a prez who will take it from there. I'd be shocked with that result. Everything else is on the table. I've said it before but they could do worse than bringing both Pace and Nagy back. I'd be fine with it. I think one of the worst things they could do is clean house from Pace on down and allow Phillips to make another hire.
