  1. The bolded part has me intrigued. Was this a major leaguer? I cant imagine a pitcher just coming off a game would have a minor leaguer with him, but I guess its possible. It doesn't have to be a player. You could be talking about a bullpen catcher, strength coach, or any number of people.
  2. I find it odd that as of 11:41 eastern, ESPN.com still has nothing on this story, while several media outlets are reporting it.
  3. http://www.ktla.com/landing/?blockID=262344&feedID=171 http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2009/04/3-killed.html
  4. Ross Fisher off to the early lead at -4 thru 12.
  5. the sports sites don't have this but latimes.com has picked it up as a headline.
  6. wow, and I just read that a fan was killed there on Opening day.
  7. I'd like to see them call-up Cutler, he'll make everything better.
  8. Wonder how antsy you are going to get sitting for 10 hours before the Bears first pick.
  9. You aren't the only person to pretend that nonsense has value, so I won't hold it against you, or any other knuckle dragging WWE fans. But it's really idiotic to think something like that helps a sport. Value? What are you talking about? My comment was clearly tongue in cheek in how over the top it was (why would anyone seriously think a weird reliever "makes baseball better" and how would that even mke any sense?) and referring to how I find his quirks entertaining. Weird, "crazy" players have always been around and they entertain me regardless of who they play for. Though classy move on your part declaring me to be an idiot and a wrestling fan just becase Valverde offends your delicate senibilities and someone else dares to not be annoyed by him. So now you admit what you said was untrue?
  10. Do you just absolutely refuse to recognize how he finished last year?
  11. I'm starting to sour on Robiske a little. I like him. But I think I like Iglesias better. I think Iglesias is actually a better route runner and is great after the catch. The west coast offense needs guys who can make plays after the catch. It is predicated on short passes and west coast teams tend to get big yards by getting their WRs the ball in space. One thing I want to point out though is if people didn't want Harvin because he was too much like Hester.....I think Iglesias is a lot like Bennett. Similar size. Similar lack of blazing speed. Both produced in college. Robiske will be a decent WR, but I don't think he is the best fit. Kenny Britt would easily be my #1 choice though of the guys who have a chance at being there at 49. You phrased the response I was trying to formulate in my head. The Bears don't need a receiver who can go a few yards, catch the ball and fall down. They need guys who can get yards after catch, especially drafting on the first day. Olsen and Clark are two good guys for the get out there and catch a pass role. They don't need a WR to do the same thing. They need another guy who can be a weapon.
  12. I can't get to youtube from work...but was it intentional? or a mis-hit that he got lucky on? I just watched the video and I couldn't tell. NBC doesn't have cameras running on Masters Wednesday? NBC doesn't have anything to do with Masters. I thought I read something that players routinely play around trying to skip the ball off the water there on practice days.
  13. You aren't the only person to pretend that nonsense has value, so I won't hold it against you, or any other knuckle dragging WWE fans. But it's really idiotic to think something like that helps a sport. lol...what? how does it hinder a sport? he pumps his fist, big freaking deal A, he doesn't pump his fist B, I was pointing out how ridiculous it is to suggest baseball is better off with such antics, didn't say anything about hindering.

  15. Blackhawks. It's only a few more weeks. Is there some problem with CSN+? Is it not HD? CSN+ makes no difference to me. It's still HD and better than WGN since directv doesn't get the HD version of WGN.
  16. I think the Bears offense was hindered by the fact that they had receivers who were good enough to succeed with a quality QB throwing to them and a QB who was good enough to succeed if he had a decent line and/or better receivers to throw to. The improved line and significantly improved QB are going to make a fairly large difference this year, in my opinion. Those two things will make the Bears current receivers better.
  17. He took 2-3 steps off the mound towards the 1B line and then bent over after each of the the first 2 outs. He didn't "nearly walk off the field." In al honesty, it was far more reserved than how he used to flip out on the mound over each out. And again, since when do we begrudge a team for celebrating a walkoff? Everyone does it, no matter when the game is. It was more than 2-3 steps. I'm not begrudging anything. I just said that combined with Valverde's over the top antics and whoever it was clapping himself up to first on the walk, it was a bit much.
  18. Losing to Assblows is one thing but, their acting like they just won the WS is really annoying most especially on the back of dribblers through the infield. In addition to the Cubs winning the WS I'd like to see them: 1. Beat Randy Johnson 2. Beat the incongruous blob known as Valverde in a save situation Sour grapes. What team doesn't celebrate when they get a walkoff win? Teams celebrate, but to that extent? And in the same game you had Pence (or whoever it was) clap his way down the first base line on a walk and Valverde nearly walk off the field on the first out of an inning? That was quite over-the-top. Doesn't Crazy Eyes always do weird things like that every outing? He does it all the time and against everybody so I don't see the point in complaining about him. He does stuff, but nearly walking off the field seemed a bit exaggerated.
  19. LOL What? It's been two games and he had an RBI last night. But we're supposed to ignore the fact that he was, in fact, a factor and decide that he's been a non-factor after two days? By that logic Soriano, despite his two homers thus far, has sucked this year. Well, if a guy sucks, then he's a factor, a negative factor. Being a non-factor suggests you haven't sucked or stood out in a positive fashion. 1 RBI in 2 games, on pace for an 81 RBI season, fits that. I guess.

  21. As Cubs fans we can't imagine why anybody would want to be a Yankee, let alone live in that city. I'm a Cubs fan who doesn't understand why some people can't understand why a person would want to be a Yankee or live in NYC. Seriously, go to NYC and the odds of winning skyrocket, plus, you'll make more money than anywhere else. And to be a Yankee consult, you don't even have to live in NY if you don't want. Lou can stay in his hometown and be a high ranking Yankees official. Doesn't he have a house in Tampa or something? Close to where the Yankees either have offices or spring training? Yes, that is what I meant. He managed Tampa supposedly because he wanted to return home. Tampa is a huge Yankees haven.
  22. anybody have any offensive line and/or cornerback suggestions?
