  1. Doesn't seem like the same person said both.
  2. If he had nothing in April that probably means he had nothing in spring training. So why wasn't he released then instead of Gaudin?
  3. No, it's boo hoo, he absolutely sucks and should not be on this team. he's a perfectly acceptable backup middle infielder. He's just not Derosa. He sucks and shouldn't be on the team, let alone have a contract that guarantees him multi-millions through 2010.
  4. hurray for mediocrity!
  5. Since the end of last May, not including his 65 or so PAs this season, Lee has a 108 OPS+. Your notion of "utterly useless" is questionable at best. (And I'd argue that OPS+ underweights Lee's offensive production - I used it because that's how the splits are presented at B-Ref.) I find that hard to believe. However, why the end of May and why would you not include his PA this year, that's dumb? He sucked starting at the end of April. From May 1 to today he's got to be sub 100 OPS+.
  6. Good riddance? There's no reason why fans should be excited about losing Bradley for the next 13 days.
  7. No, it's boo hoo, he absolutely sucks and should not be on this team.
  8. Interesting idea. The way I have it is..... CUBS are 2-2 when Aaron Miles starts at second base..... 6-4 when he doesn't. Unfortunately, the way I set up my databases..... team records and appearances in a game (other than being the starter) aren't correlated. But... it is something to think about. eta: of course, there is this........ Pinch hitting AB SO GDP Miles 4 3 1 In no way am I trying to defend Aaron Miles, but didn't he walk as a PH before the Soriano home run against the Cardinals? that wouldn't count as an AB, just a PA.
  9. Did he say anything about no more dumbass baserunning creating outs on the bases?
  10. I want to say 10 minutes for first round 7 minutes for second. That would put the start of the 2nd round as late as 9:00pm, but my guess is it will be close to 7:30/8:00. Then the Bears pick, 17th in the second, would be around 9:00-10:30, when game 5 of the Blackhawks series is set to begin.
  11. Jim has eaten a good deal of contracts already. A portion of Marquis', Vizcaino's, Gaudin. I'm sure he could eat it if he wanted to, but I'm pretty sure Jim still likes Miles. He went out and got him, he wasn't acquired in a salary dump or tendered a contract just because he was arb eligible. Jim went out and sought Aaron Miles in a market where nobody was signing free agents.
  12. If moving Soriano out of leadoff is a priority, why do you move him to 2nd?
  13. I'm generally against nut kicking.
  14. We're not talking about old-man legs that pop while you're walking down the stairs. He heard a pop while he was running and now is feeling discomfort. That screams torn ACL. That's fine, but we've each had that issue since we were young. A pop isn't necessarily an ACL tear.
  15. Draft starts 4pm eastern Saturday. I miss the early start. Detroit is on the clock, and I really think they should look elsewhere than Stafford. He's just not 1st pick worthy. The only reason he's a candidate there is because he's a QB and they need one. But if they don't take him, he could potentially fall to 10 or lower. Guys who are taken #1 overall are guys should be guys who stand no chance of falling past 2 or 3. There's been a good amount of predraft trading, and that may lead into a lot of draft day trades.
  16. The MLB Network has been nothing shy of disappointing since it began. I don't understand why people are so enamored. They just took a bunch of former players and had them talk about how awesome everybody is.
  17. My wife's knee pops everytime she bends it. My knee pops with some regularity. It doesn't necessarily mean a thing.
  18. It's April 23. I love how you pile on the Cubs but yet say you're optimistic about a team that finished 41-41 in the regular season, a team that struggled in its two playoffs wins and played poorly for five of the six periods on the road, and a team that still has no WR's and an aging defense. I guess I better put logic away though since I am in a game thread. Hey, just because the Packers suck doesn't mean you can take it out on everybody else. I love the Bulls and Blackhawks and I ragged on them too. I was just proving a point that he shouldn't be overreacting because of two games in April. And yes, I realize we suck :( And that's the key takeaway from this discussion.

  20. They've looked lost at times, and yet, no matter how this game ends, they will finish the day on pace for 92 wins.
  21. Maybe because they are so old, and have multiple guys who aren't particularly ideal for the positions they play.
  22. I would love to trade down at this point. They still have multiple holes, but they don't really need any one star, now that they got Cutler. If they can turn their 2 and their first 5 into a later 2 and another 3, that would be sweet.
  23. That'd be wonderful if they heard it then and he was suspended for two playoff games because of it. That wouldn't be a possibility.
