Wow, Fields had to be practically decapitated to get a roughing call. It's not just Fields. No QB in the league is treated like Brady except maybe Rodgers. Maybe Rodgers?

McCaskey said he prefers GM first and GM hires coach, correct? Yes, sorry that was worded confusing. McCaskey would prefer GM first. But if they felt they had a coach they loved they would consider. Couldn't say what that circumstance would be but they'd know when they saw it. i took it as, if Harbaugh or Payton was realistic, they’d do it and figure out the GM later. For most candidates they’d rather the GM be the deciding factor.

Most probably do. There are certainly cases where a coach gets hired first. I would say most often it's established former Head Coaches who might get hired before a GM. @PFF_Brad (Twitter handle) had one of those Twitter spaces the other night and talking about league structures indicated that despite what order they were hired in, it's probably close to 50% of teams where the coach is really the top of the football ops. And his personal opinion was he hated that structure. Fow whatever it's worth McCaskey said that was his preference. McCaskey said he prefers GM first and GM hires coach, correct?

What do you think is more likely to happen? Pace gets a pro personnel gig and recommends bringing in Nagy as an offensive assistant. Pace gets a pro personnel gig and signs Trubisky as the backup QB.

I horsefeathering cannot stand people who talk about a team needing to have an identity. It is so not a thing. You need better players making better plays designed by better coaches than the other team. That's it.

Blackhawks are calling up their only prospect to be on the taxi squad. It seems like a weird decision on the surface; either call him up and let him play or keep him in the minors. Part of the taxi squad thing allows you to do keep the salary off the cap for a couple games, so maybe they just want to give him a taste? I don't know, but there will be a very long time before they call up another highly touted prospect.

The best thing McCaskey said was they would not be tied down to a specific type of coach. The purposefully went offensive minded coach with Trestman, stable old guy in Fox (to help Pace adjust) and then offensive guy with Nagy. If the next guy hires an OC/QB coach that gets it right and moves on to another job, it will be because Justin Fields is a stud, and then I won't care who the next coach is.
