  1. I get the nostalgia factor but they aren't seriously thinking of Marinelli as the DC right? He's well into his 70s now, coaching the Vegas DLine. If he wants to keep working, I think a D Line role is appropriate, but I'm not sure we want a guy like that in the DC position.
  2. Shane Day makes a LOT of sense. Forgot about him in my list yesterday of Shanahan tree candidates. Does have a little playcalling experience. Called games for 3 games at UConn a few years ago and it was the best 3-game offensive stretch in school history. Why did he go from 49ers QB coach to Chargers QB coach? Lateral move on the surface? Was he passed over for OC when McDaniel took the job?
  3. I dont think of Philly as a winning org. They had a fluke super bowl run and not a whole lot more. Fluke is probably wrong word but it was a one off great season bookended by mediocrity.
  4. I mean technically, it is Mike's tree. Kubiak has a kid coaching one of these teams as well. I think something on defense for the Packers? Vikings OC
  5. it didn't say which Shanahan. Couple be Kubiak finally coming to take the reins!
  6. I don't know if he's related to the longtime Cubs coach or the city in Libya.
  7. At this point, if Caldwell doesn't settle for the job, I'd say just go with another hot young candidate.
  8. It's the biggest hire to make. In a best case scenario we are looking for another OC next offseason because anyone who can make the Bears offense look good is going to get heavy HC consideration next year lol Not after Adam Gase.
  9. She's a tupperware employee in ohio, I think it's fair to say she's not that connected to THE FAMILY.
  10. He's a first time HC but a longtime coach who is 51 years old. I don't think inexperience will be an issue.
  11. The guy who oversaw Carson Wentz's complete decline? Sign me up!
  12. To add to this...I've been underwhelmed with every Bears coaching hire of my lifetime except Nagy, who I was pretty damn happy about, so yeah. I was underwhelmed with Jauron (wanted Kubiak IIRC - sidenote: Bears had Bill Belichick in the building in that hiring cycle and chose both Dave McGinnis and Dick Jauron over him, lol). Was underwhelmed with Lovie (and his whole "#1 we have to beat Green Bay" meatbally thing in the press conference didn't warm me up to him). Was underwhelmed with the weirdo Trestman hire. Doesn't mean he's not going to turn out to be a solid (or even great) HC. Obviously, Lovie was. Doesn't mean it's a bad hire, even. Just doesn't excite me. Eager to see OC candidate names come out. I'm fairly certain I was high on Lovie from the start, prior to being hired. I was similar with Nagy though, too.
  13. He's got history with Toledo (everybody has history there) in college and Cleveland/Dallas/Indy in the NFL. So is he taking offensive coaches from there? Or is Caldwell potentially coming with him?
  14. I'm just using this thread to bookmark info since I forget what the blackhawks have done within 48 hours of it happening
  15. Its a compromise at least. Only downside I guess it a home team with a tie may go real conservative at the end knowing they will get the ball back with plenty of time. But for that trade off we get sudden death excitement. I'd still say give home team the choice either way. I really wanna see some coach give up first possession in OT because they got cute and lose lol IT's been done already
  16. So, is Eric Bieniemy going to get a look?
  17. #NotPlayoffRelated
  18. It's not really about qualifications with the guy, he's been out of the league for years. That's the issue. Away from the game, health issues and age. It seems predestined to be a 3 year gig and move on, one way or another. I think that works just fine as an OC installing his offensive infrastructure and setting up his assistants to battle for the OC gig in 2025, but I don't think that is a good way to treat the HC position.
  19. My interpretation is George has been 100% honest and transparent about this stuff. I really don't think a hot candidate would agree to a GM job if it came with the caveat that he had to hire an elder statesmen as HC. I think it's entirely possible that Poles likes Caldwell, and don't believe George is forcing him, or any other coach, on him.
  20. I love Caldwell as an OC, I'm skeptical as all hell with him as HC. But I like the GM hire and do think Caldwell would be good for Fields development. Maybe not the best, but at least positive.
