  1. not the definition of a baseball player great line. Incredibly stupid thing to say, but great line nonetheless.
  2. according to bottomline, set to resume no sooner than 1030 eastern time on espnu.
  3. He is dead wrong saying versteeg is more valuable
  4. they are dead
  5. Possibly due to the small sample size and number of crappy has beens or never will bes that hang out in AAA. His limited stuff is good enough to get out non-elite hitters, but not to get out the best. Maybe? There are "crappy has beens" in MLB too, not to mention all the AAAA players and defensive specialists. It's not like his numbers in AAA are just okay. Heck, if the walks were down just a bit his WHIP would be under 1. I know people hate Shark, but I'm just saying. I don't think crappy has beens in the majors compare to the crappy has beens in AAA.
  6. Penalty shootout, I think. But I'm just a newb as well and could be wrong. My fifa world cup game had me play two 15 minute overtime periods, then I'm guessing it would have gone to penalty shots.

  8. The Robin Roberts sound alike analyst was completely worthless breaking down that replay. "Well, here's the ball here..."
  9. Do they carry over from round of 16, to semis? Thus making you miss final?
  10. On a related note, tweets containing "USA" spiked to 6% of total tweet volume.
  11. Howard gratefully claims it distribution brilliant there are things on here for the usa
  12. I have no idea where it says, all I know is that the announcer said FIFA decreed years ago that the benefit of the doubt in such a situation should go to the attacking player.
  13. As I said before, take it up with Nate Silver, whose statistical models agreed with me at the time. Nate Silver's statistical models for these games are incredibly meaningless.
  14. Look, we can re-argue the same argument we had after the first game, in which I still feel perfectly comfortable that I was right. Or we can argue that the result sort of happening proved that the result wasn't unlikely, which we both know isn't true. Either way, I don't think you guys have any new arguments, so what's the point of going on about it? At the time, the U.S. getting a point against England did not significantly change their chances of advancement, which still almost entirely depended on the other two matches. Unless you have some new arguments, because the ones that have been made haven't swayed me, then it's probably best to let it go. People don't have new points to make because there's really no need, you don't make any sense.
  15. So even in a situation that was unlikely at the time (England goes into a scoring slump), it's 75% that they go through without the tie (50% of it's 1-0, 100% if it's 2-1). I stand by it: That tie was unlikely at the time to make a difference in advancement out of the group stage. Seems like a pretty stupid stance you're taking here.
  16. ESPN did a pretty clear analysis of the play with their axis thingamajig showing that it was onsides. The foot was even with the defender while the body was behind. And considering all 3 parties involved were stationary (both players and the linesman), I don't know how that's missed. At worsts it's even and the benefit of the doubt should go to the US. http://www.sporza.be/permalink/1.809185 Stop it at 18 seconds whit the line graphics on, then reread my post. If this had been an Algerian goal, you'd be calling blue murder using my argument. I still say this one can get called either way. Slit second decision by the linesman that doesn't look obviously wrong even with the benefit of technology. The announcer said FIFA said calls should give benefit of the doubt to attacking player, so if the call could go either way, as you say, doesn't that mean it should be not called offsides?
  17. If England had scored at the end to beat us 2-1, and all other results stay the same, we still move on. But if they lose 1-0? Also, if England wins that game, who knows how they play this game and who knows how Slovenia does here.
  18. If form holds, I look forward to Kyle's my bad regarding the unimportance of the tie vs England. A potential matchup v Uruguay or South Korea to get to the semi's? Yes please. You won't be getting one, because I clearly and explicitly said that it didn't change their chances of advancement to the second round, not that it didn't improve their chances of getting a better draw if they did get in. So that point didn't end up making a difference?
  19. Yes, in the absence of escorts. Escorts escort you into buildings, and leave on their own.
  20. True on all aspects, but this isn't just a disgrunted former Bear, this was Alex Brown who was generally liked, and he gave everything he had for the org. Yes he should had been escorted out of the building, but not by security. As for Angelo and Smith aren't available, I don't know about that. Alex Brown back at Halas Hall would be a "great disturbance in the Force" and if Angelo or Smith were there they would have known that. If there weren't then somebody from their staff should have been there. I don't mind Brown being escorted out of the building, but security? Really? Those are the people who escort others out of buildings. My god, this is almost as dumb an issue as Ricketts being out of town.
  21. Definitely would understand the NFL forbidding it. Not just the NFL, but any sport. It goes hand in hand with the idea of tampering. I don't understand how this is a story, or how the tribune picked it up as a breaking news story and sort of agree he was being mistreated. He's got no reason to be there. I understand after 8 years with the org he still has friends, but if Alex wanted to hang out with some of his buddies do it at a club, bowling alley, etc, etc, not at another team's Home Office. I believe Alex should not have been escorted out of the building by security like a common thug, I think somebody like Angelo or Smith should have meet with him and let him know he isn't allow there (Bears HQ) anymore as he isn't a member of the org. A common thug would not have been politely escorted out of the building. Let's stop painting Brown as some sort of victim of mistreatment here.
  22. Now he's indicted
  23. Is giving up 2 runs to Seattle all that terrific?
  24. Algeria got a good chance that Howard had to save right on the line. He sprung a quick counter that turned into a 4-on-2. Someone (altidore or buddle?) got the ball right in front of the keeper and shot it straight into him, but the rebound came out a little and Donovan buried it. It's too bad Howard can't get an assist on that goal, because that break was 100 percent because of him getting rid of the ball quickly. That's what I was thinking as he tossed it, that looked like a great move by him.
