  1. I bet you wouldn't mind what kind of owner he was if he brought you a WS ring. I'll take him. saying you'd be fine with loria here makes it obvious that you know absolutely nothing about him The joy of winning the world series be sapped somewhat when I saw that piece of [expletive] holding the trophy next to Selig. And I'm not even being sarcastic. exactly. I think I'd feel worse about a WS with Loria than if we'd paid off the umpires or something. I'd enjoy it with no reservations.
  2. You didn't care about the Toews/Kane drafts?
  3. Steve Stone can't wait to broadcast a Zambrano game.
  4. Hes one of those Augie Ojeda/Craig Counsell/Aaron Miles/Jeff Keppinger types who the Cubs can never get out. Great point. His career .264 .301 .342 .642 line in 436 PA against the Cubs show that he's a force to be reckoned with. Keppinger: .252 .299 .273 .571 in 155 PA. Augie: .243 .333 .243 .577 in 43 PA. Counsell is the only one that comes even remotely close to being a guy they can "never get out", and that's with a line of .256 .362 .379 .740 in 356 PA, so yeah, these guys all suck and nowhere near being "Cub killers." Hyperbole hy·per·bo·le  1. obvious and intentional exaggeration. I'm sure he understood that Craig Counsell doesn't have a .1000 batting average lifetime against the Cubs. So what. He claimed they can never get them out, when in fact they usually get them out. If they had a .400 OBP his claim would make some sense. But the actual numbers don't come close to supporting the claim, so there's no reason to make it.
  5. If the free agents are smart (a lot of these guys probably won't be), then we won't be one of those teams that are upset. Our situation is easily the best one available out of the teams with space to sign a big name FA or two. I assume you mean Rose/Noah there. What does the future look like with those two guys' next contracts if they do sign two max guys today? Does Rose become a max guy, can they sign him? Do they give Noah big money?
  6. chicago makes whatever choice they request.

  8. Well, it's not like all they did was put Buff in front of the net. The Blackhawks are more than capable of winning games in different ways, and they did that this year.
  9. I'm pretty sure that they had already moved the winner's second match to tomorrow. He's listed as playing in a doubles match sometime today.
  10. Buff's specific playoff role will be a challenge to replicate with another player, maybe impossible. But they can still put some size out there.
  11. you're a loser I've been trying to think of a jenny from the block reference this whole time
  12. Rip off http://www.northsidebaseball.com/forum/topic?f=44&t=57658&p=2465899&hilit=humiliation#p2465899 I told you he wasn't a real Poster.
  13. Wait.........wut? I love Kane and all, but who can justify putting Kane over Crosby? Not to mention as a center? I could buy to a certain degree Jonathan Toews, but Patrick Kane? IDK. It's called marketing. The league has maxed out Crosby, they need to start selling Kane.
  14. Nuts & Gum doesn't even look like a Poster. When I think of Posters, I think of guys like chuck_cubs
  15. this announcer likes that italy is humiliated
  16. When I think of baseball player, I think of players like Colvin, etc. I would give some other names, but then I would get crucified for putting those guys' names in the same sentence with Colvin. My point with the "baseball player" remark was that when I look at Colvin, I see a young player who is eager for his opportunity, but still goes out and hits in a lesser role. And when he does start, he's got a hop in his step and it is just fun to watch him out there. I don't really get the same vibe from Kosuke, that's all. you can keep on going with this as long as you like as far as I'm concerned.
  17. and he does
  18. Isner can win here
  19. pretty big turn of events here
  20. what the hell was all that in the goal, did Pronger steal the ball or something?
  21. what were you saying about diving?
  22. Easily my favorite player on the team other than Toews and Kane. It sucks to see him go, but it had to be done. I do worry about trading away all our size (Buff and Eager) with one deal, though. The Hawks are designed for speed so I don't think it will be a big deal in the regular season. But when it comes to the playoffs, I think you need that size in front of the net to stuff the puck in. I think that was a huge key to the Hawks winning the Cup this year, and I think it was a huge reason why the Penguins didn't make it back there. If they can keep Ladd, he, Hossa and Kopecky are pretty big guys, and so is Brouwer, though I'm not sure what his status is. I think they have a couple big kids as well. Plus, they played almost all of last year without Dave Bolland, and while he's not all that big, he's a very solid 2-way center. They aren't all just little speed guys. Kane may be the only guy who you could describe as susceptible to physical domination. The NHL generally doesn't allow that anymore. Everybody has been talking about a lack of size and toughness on this team for 3 years now, but it has not come close to being an actual issue. They probably are going to need an "Eager" type player, but they aren't desperate.
  23. There's nothing inaccurate rambling about flopping. And it's kind of ridiculous to expect everybody to appreciate what other people like about a different entertainment form, which is all this stuff is. NASCAR is dumb. I don't care that other people find entertainment in it. It does nothing for me. Soccer I can appreciate, even if I hated playing as a kid (but loved indoor soccer). Let's step back a little from the "only fuddy duddy white people don't like soccer" and just enjoy the moment a bit.
