  1. Do we have to work with calendar weeks? Any 7 day period?
  2. And his voice cracking just before he gets to the good part.
  3. The Cubs have been pretty bad this week. That's true.
  4. I'll give you three guess for what thread this is being discussed in.
  5. I've got friends who are Mets and Pirates fans and it seems like once a month one or the other is complaining about an inexplicably "only the Mets" or "only the Pirates" week.
  6. There's a lot about hockey that I don't know, but I can't see this team missing the playoffs, barring multiple key injuries. Maybe they don't win their division and challenge for the 1 seed this year, but I think they'll at least be a top 6 team in the West. I think something that a lot of people keep ignoring is the fact that Hossa and Bolland missed a ton of time last year and will make up for a lot of regular season production that has left.
  7. You don't want Fielder because he was pissed his team was being hit in the head and took a hard slide at 2nd in response?
  8. He has to do that in order to avoid fines for missing training camp.
  9. If he were an established owner, probably not. But with him being a brand new owner, I think questions would come just to find out if he's going to make a habit of it, etc. I don't know how many he'd get – probably not a bunch – but I think there'd be some. I doubt it. If he fired him tomorrow, maybe. But sometime in October? I really doubt it.
  10. I don't think pandemonium would ensue and there'd be rioting in the streets or anything because Ricketts went back on what he said. I do think he'd have to answer a decent amount of questions wondering why he said Hendry would be back and then went on to fire him. A Cub collapse in the second half would give him a really easy answer to those questions. I doubt he'd have to answer many questions about going back on his words.
  11. Agreed. After these recent blowouts, I can't even say we're playing for pride anymore. Let's just get ready for next year/the future. But they're gonna be nice and give Piniella what he asked for (to leave on his own terms). Hendry's just a stand-up guy. These last few games just prove Alan Trammel cannot manage.
  12. Was he sleeping with porn stars down in Dallas or something?
  13. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=P&sid=t451&t=p_pbp&pid=502212 Bibens-dirkx
  14. They also have this guy. http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/11/2010/08/340x_large_rex-ryan-new-york-jets-diet-731.jpg
  15. Nice Esposito reference :) http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nhl/news/story?id=5430163 I love all the parentheticals in that little blurb, especially the one that clarifies that Tony Esposito is not up in the rafters, but rather his number is.
  16. I don't love the guy but going from Theriot to Dewitt seems like a good enough move on its own to not bother thinking too hard about the pitching prospects.
  17. They don't win often enough for it to be annoying.
  18. Overall OPS is down from 750 to 734 (and down from the 760ish range a few years ago). ERA is down from the 4.25-4.50 range to 4.14. The K rate was in the 6's (per 9) and is now a little over 7.
  19. well played
  20. The rules made that decision for him.
  21. That can only mean you are predicting 9-7 or 10-6.
  22. I thought he missed more time in 2007 after getting hurt against Dallas.
