Speaking of streaks I hadn't noticed, I saw a crappy Marlon Byrd at bat last night and thought it had been a while since I saw him do something good. He's had a bad second half thanks to a truly awful August and September and now his overall numbers are quite pedestrian (though still good for a CF). That's not necessarily to take anything away from him. He's already at his career high for PA, his next one will set a personal high. And he's 2 games away from his career high in games played. I think one thing the Cubs forgot in their whole 4 outfielder rotation thing when they sometimes struggled to get guys in, is that Marlon Byrd is not a 162 game player. He doesn't need to play everyday and he probably shouldn't.

and every good QB should love to see a blitz

Cutler supposedly did very well against the blitz last year. And he didn't suck like Grossman sucked. Grossman had a couple really good games, but really settled into a pattern of either sucking, or having his good games be "game manager" types. Cutler still pulled out some fantastic games in a down year when he was the only offense, and his bad ones weren't as bad.

http://deadspin.com/5644293/the-jets-introduced-a-car-service-for-players-the-week-before-braylon-edwardss-dui There's a link with a pic of the security/car service the Jets offered their players before Braylon got busted.

Yes, it's harder to acquire a bomb than walk to a garbage can. You are correct. Good point.

obviously he was capable, because if it was real it would have done damage. You don't have to be suave, discreet and highly intelligent to cause a lot of damage. It would seem like getting your hands on a real, functioning bomb is like 99% of the equation here. Not hard at all.

that's as foolproof a plan as the underwear gnomes'

When Rex wasn't throwing off his heals he had a cannon, but I do think Cutler has a stronger arm.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5596131 Awesome. =D> I don't get why people think that's awesome. He's an ahole who decided to assault somebody. That's cool? Obviously it's not good that he's apparently imbalanced, but it was two mascots fighting, of course that's funny. Two mascots fighting is funny, but that is not what was being applauded, people are applauding a guy for coming up with a scheme to start a fight.

I think that the Saints probably aren't as good as they are getting credit for. First they struggle to beat a pretty crappy Vikings team, then struggle against a bad 49ers team. What happens when they face good squads?

Braylon Edwards busted with a DWI. All that preseason hype and good will surrounding the Jets is getting shredded.

You are talking about a place of business whose 2nd most lucrative reason for existing is to sell beer, it's not a junior high.

Inside the 5 is really freaking hard. I really don't think it's that big of an issue. They aren't losing games based on punts, although you can make a case they've failed to win a few because of their willingness to punt instead of go for it.

I don't see why you are getting your panties in a bunch over it. You have to really justify banning stuff using something other than "I have a problem with it."

It seems to me that he often has a major stinker of a game, and then will correct things and do better. Of course he's also older and has had some health issues, so maybe he can't any longer, but I'm going to assume he gets it straightened out soon. Maynard's only value for the last few years has only been in his ability to put the ball inside the 20. Been in the bottom 1/4 of the league in avg and net the last 4 years (including the 2 games this year), yet has finished top 10 in punts inside the 20 all 4 years. Because Lovie always punts inside enemy territory.

What's wrong with that? I personally have a problem with alcohol in the workplace. Why is it necessary in a clubhouse? I'm not the players aren't drinking up pre-game, but the costs don't outweigh the benefits in my eyes. What does necessity have to do with anything? Do you only allow necessities in the workplace? Let me turn it around, why should alcohol be allowed in MLB clubhouses? Because it's a legal product and the vast majority of people present are of legal age. But don't turn it around, you want to ban things based on your own personal problems with them, you do the legwork.
