  1. I remember being a youngster listening to all of those and completely ignoring them. Probably because I was an uncoachable prima donna but also because his lessons weren't even really lessons. It was just, don't make a mistake like this silly major league baseball player just made right here.
  2. From Deadspin:
  3. The site that had this game as Bears +5, then + 6 and + 6.5, is now showing +6 again. Not seeing a line in other spots, but CBS sports is using Bears +5.5. People should be teasing this Packers game with Indy and New Orleans or Atlanta.
  4. I think you can count on a 2 yard run largely because Taylor isn't offering up much in the terms of threatening to turn that into a 12 yard run.
  5. I think Taylor is an old dude who benefitted from backing up a dynamic running back in Minnesota. He backs up a fairly dull plain vanilla runner in Forte, and teams don't need to gameplan around either. Don't count on him. Cutler has some weapons, but it's mostly a bunch of handguns and no big guns.
  6. Yeah, I keep picturing them facing New Orleans at home in the NFC Championship game. I like every potential matchup except @ Atlanta or vs GB.
  7. I had some sympathy for Stone's plight in 2004, the problem is he tried acting like he was part of the team and needed management to take sides or something. He reacted as unprofessionally and whiningly as possible. Had he taken the high road he'd have come out looking much better. But he's a bitch and incapable of such actions.
  8. So you guys are ripping on a color analyst for *gasp* analyzing a game? The nerve of that man to actually give some insight into a baseball game! Predicting a slider low and away is not analyzing a game. He's not even right most of the time when he calls it.
  9. I don't think he can skate all that well.
  10. I thought Webb showed some promise, but he's not much of a passer. I'd still plan on taking a QB early, not some stopgap. Webb needs a lot of work to be a 16 game starter. But he's got skill.
  11. That's fine with me. I'd gladly take that. Plus, you'll face the Eagles, right? I like your chances. Yep. Three games in either 11 or 12 days as well. That's pretty rough. Philly isn't going to try next week.
  12. It's actually some southern cities, but Pittsburgh is gloomy and wet as hell.
  13. This line should go to 13.5
  14. GB is now 6.5 point favorites. Vegas is begging people to bet on the Bears.
  15. fun 2nd half of futbol on the teli
  16. They are changing coaches right? It shouldn't be too hard to change the lack of ingenuity thing just with that one hire.
  17. TB/NO and CAR/ATL are still early games. The only other NFC early game is MIN/DET.
  18. Also, the winter classic could be a bust since it's in the country's rainiest city. Maybe the NHL should try and promote something more than just Sidney Crosby every chance they get.
  19. Well that is a vague qualifier. I think it could greatly improve the 2011 rotation, not in comparison to 2010, but in comparison to what 2011 would be without him. Is Silva going to get 25 starts this year? He could easily suffer a setback after a brief glimpse of decency this past year. Does a guy like him, as good a bet as any of them to give you 200 innings and make every start, make it easier to stretch out Cashner? Dempster, Zambrano, Garza, Wells and Cashner could be a stable rotation that actually provides some room for real upside. And then you let those other guys fill-in where needed. (Gorz/Silva/whoever). Maybe you put yourself into position to trade pitching at the deadline for much needed bats. I think on his own he'd improve the rotation a fairly significant amount. When you talk about cost of prospects though, that could be negated.
  20. How are either of those things "true"? Cubs starters combined for the following stats in 2010: 7.3 K/9, 3.5 BB/9, 8.8 H/9, 1.364 WHIP, 2.10 K/BB, 4.00 ERA You're telling me that Garza will "greatly improve" that? Will the degree of improvement he offers be worth what the Cubs would have to give up to get him? If he replaces the worst performer of the bunch then yes he could improve them.
  21. And points scored isn't impressive either. Also, if they are getting the benefit of better field position than anybody else, they should score at a greater rate than their offense "normally" would. This still indicates they are subpar.
  22. Yes, the 1 seed will face the lowest seeded first round winner.
  23. A win and the Bears can do no worse than 2. Packers are not necessarily eliminated with a loss. Tonight is on NBC, the regular Sunday Night Football broadcast.
  24. Confirmation on Kane's return in the Tribune: http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/12/kane-returns-to-blackhawks-lineup.html
  25. It's easy to pretend to know more than the idiot managers when your "decisions" don't actually result in something happening and you can't be called out on them. Two things happened with Stone. One, all the kids that watched him and liked him in the 80's/90's grew up, and he became a bitter dick.
