    They just picked the guy, they didn't sign him. The guy on the feed is convinced he's going to college. Yes, but they're at least showing that they're willing to pony up some cash. I realize this is getting nitpicky but again, if they don't sign him, they really aren't showing anything. Maybe they want him to turn them down and go to college.

    Nobody picked him in the previous 33 selections. That doesn't sound like stealing at all. Sounds fairly legal. In baseball, steals are legal.

    I have to say, I'm pretty shocked about this. This isn't hitting .230something and OPSng in the low .700s, which id expected to be Colvins floor. Obviously, as everyone said, his start last year wasn't sustainable, but I don't think that even the biggest doubters would have predicted him to bottom out this bad. Nope. I definitely was opposed to the "Colvin as a starter" idea, but even I didn't think or expect he'd be THIS bad. It is way below what I expected as a bottom, but he's still below 90 PA this season. I think a HR in his next appearance would raise the OPS around 50 points.

    There's a big difference between what is power from SS and what is power from 2B though.

    We're in the middle of a couple crappy years, so you really don't have that choice. There's really no need to tank 2012-2013 to get back into contention. This isn't Oakland and Tampa.

    I'm sorry, but you are wrong. They made Ryno the highest paid player in the game in the early 90's. From the late-90's through the 2000's, when Wrigley actually started selling out on the heals of success they rose the payroll from middle of the road to top of the NL. It wasn't just prior to the sale.

    I doubt that happens. Lame duck managers are avoided when possible. A new GM probably gets to hire a new manager. It's also the best option for making sure you get a chance to make a second hire.

    But it looks like he didn't throw at all for a 9 day period in the 19 days since he last started. He threw a side on the 21st then next was off flat ground on the 30th. Seems like an odd accelerated program to get him back onto the mound with just a couple side sessions during a nearly 3-week layoff. I imagine he's got to be limited tonight, although Quade hasn't been particularly careful with his starters this year.

    No, but while he's here it's probably best that he plays. If/when a better option emerges then send him back to AAA.
