  1. Every 60+ year old NY business man is in love with the Dodgers. Fox had a huge television rights offer on the table for the Dodgers. Everything going on in the media world has shown that content is king, and the Dodgers are big content.
  2. But they didn't do that with little Cubs logos on their golf shirts.
  3. For what purpose? It's not like they always had every team play at the same time. Opening day has fluctuated for years. There is MLB's opening day, but also opening day for every individual team, including home openers for teams that open on the road. I see nothing wrong with this sort of marketing concept where teams play in foreign locales. And if they do play outside the country there is little choice but to have it at odd hours and prior to other teams games since they have to travel so far. Personally if they ever do get around to promoting the game more in Europe, I'd love to attend a Cubs opener in Italy or somewhere similar. I enjoyed getting up early to watch the Cubs in Japan a decade ago. Opening day evolves and it's not like this sort of thing happens every year.
  4. I really wish I had a Sprite
  5. He's got 1 walk, , 16 K, 0 HR and a 750 OPS. That's still awful.
  6. How the hell is he writing people off by not having them in his top 10? It's a top 10 list for 5 years from now. That is a very long time. There is only one player who appeared on the top ten WAR list for 2006 and 2011, Miguel Cabrera. Pujols was only 26 and he didn't make the cut 5 years later. Sizemore was only 23 and he's fallen apart. Santana was 27 and he didn't even pitch last year. Vernon Wells was also only 27 then. Odds are your top 10 will be made up of mostly 26-29 year olds who were unproven up and comers five years earlier, but a couple guys make come out of nowhere, or at least surprisingly show up (Lee and Bautista this year).
  7. colts are on the board, no reason they can't make the pick already
  8. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/hockey/blackhawks/chi-montador-returns-to-blackhawks-lineup-20120327,0,3142950.story Steven Montador and I will both be attending the Blackhawks game in Newark tonight. Only Montador will be playing while I will be drinking my face off.

  10. Non-freaking-sense. Contention is all you can ask for. There is no "over the top". You contend now and build to be better in the future.
  11. hopefully next year all the free agents are like 23 But they won't have a long enough proven track record to justify signing. All free agents should be 25.5 and only sign 4 year contracts.
  12. I will take the broncos
  13. Bear and the Gang
  14. they shouldn't trade Byrd regardless of the Jackson situation if they can't get something of value. But something of value for Marlon Byrd probably isn't a whole heck of a lot.
  15. bet that drives the ladies wild
  16. That is because a system is only as good as the people who are running it. The Cubs system isn't some separate entity that operates on its own. It's not some amusement park with the same old rides no matter who owns and operates the thing. The system is whoever is making the decisions to draft and sign potential prospects and who is developing those players. A change in leadership from incompetent buffoons to pretty damn successful people does automatically make the system better. If they suddenly morph into morons somehow, that will be a problem, but I don't know why somebody would assume that would happen.
  17. I'm disappointed in those waves moving back and forth. Looks lazy.
  18. The Cubs have no track record. "The Cubs" track record has to be differentiated by who was running them. You can't look at the Cubs organization right now and say "they have a history of developing some pitchers but no hitters" just because that is was the Andy MacPhail era Cubs did.
  19. What's a reasonable time frame? Kendall suffered his in the first half of the season and missed the rest, same with Jenkins. Moises missed a season. And none of these guys are pitchers, nor were they fat or rehabbing another injury coming in. They were all athletes who were never the same physically after the injury. Joba is a slob who was already coming back from TJS. This is a going to be a major setback to that recovery, and now he has to worry about 2 weak spots whenever he does start pitching again.
