  1. I almost want them to do it in LF too I would bet heavily that is what they do.
  2. All tribune owned stations are affected, which in NY means WPIX channel 9 (which airs some Mets games). I would have to assume this includes local WGN in Chicago on directv. Although, quite a few bars with directv tend to have regular cable as well, which would allow them to air the games that way.
  3. This. i'm wondering if this will affect people with MLB EI through DirecTV My experience is that WGN broadcasts didn't air on the EI channels anyway. They only showed CSN games, but you can watch the other team's broadcast.
  4. Hasn't Woods had absurd odds over the past couple years considering how [expletive] he's played? Probably. I never really pay attention to golf odds but he'd be a perfect candidate to keep getting the public money.
  5. It starts this week. Apparently the Nantz types are all aflutter about the early spring that means Augusta's "color" has disappeared and turned to green.
  6. Hurray for WGN showing up on Time Warner cable just as it disappears from directv. I'll be able to watch from work at least.
  7. The trend has been that content is king in the entertainment world, and sports is about the most desired content out there. I would say the potential for TV deals across the board is huge.

  10. it's fine, we're going to sign matt kemp and joey votto Are we still bitching about this even after every worthwhile FA got a ridiculous contract? I mean, I'm not trying to say its stupid......actually, yeah, it is pretty [expletive] stupid. There comes a point in time when you have to ask yourself, if every single one of them gets a ridiculous contract, what defines ridiculous?
  11. I think the Bears have been pretty tight lipped, and they have enough needs for 1st round talent that they could seemingly take any WR, OT or DE available.
  12. Todd Ricketts appearing on CNBC right now, with a wicked handlebar mustache.
  13. I don't see it going down this way but I can't pass on Upshaw here for the Broncos. It's best player available time and he is it.
  14. http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/17iepr6x2fvpzjpg/xlarge.jpg Next year's final four will be in Lithuania.
  15. sweet, my first bracket championship ever
  16. What do you mean it averages 27.5% of the 2012 payroll? It only accounts for a percentage of the 2012 payroll once. It's pretty clear with all the money that most non-Cubs teams are willing to spend on players that money is expected to be there to afford all these players. Cincy's current payroll is roughly double what it was 7 years ago. If it doubles again that percentage will plummet. The obsession with payroll flexibility really confuses me. I would much rather have really good players than the flexibility to sign mediocrity.
  17. The 6th seed was only desirable if the #3 seed was the Stars. Now that it looks like LA, I'm not so sure 6th is better given that, as 6th seed, there is virtually no chance of having home ice at all. What exactly is the mental block w/ Detroit? Last time I checked the scum hadn't beaten the Hawks in regulation at all this year. I'd still rather play LA than Detroit or Nashville. The Hawks have had the Wings number this year, but every game has been extremely close. I'd rather not face a team with that much skill until we absolutely have to. I'd rather enjoy the fun of seeing them play Detroit than the inevitable "first goal Crawford gives up and the game is over" series against the Kings.
  18. so the Bears are the big delay here huh, who knew?
  19. The good thing about passing on all the available free agents this year is that there will be plenty of them available every year for the next decade.
  20. 2nd in resources doesn't add up.
  21. I think you know that answer already.
  22. Going off of everything Sveum has done and said, I fully expect a lot of goofy/unnecessary/stupid things at least in the short-term.
  23. Teams who draft QB out of desperation live to regret it.
  24. http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/spring2012/story/_/id/7752377/projecting-national-league-east-central-west-races-2012-mlb ESPN/Dan Szymborski/Baseball Think Factory NL preview. Cubs finish with 75 wins, 2 games ahead of PIT for 4th place. The race goes: CIN - 87 MIL - 86 STL - 85 CHC - 75 PIT - 73 HOU - 59 If that holds I'll win my drunken bet with a softball teammate on the CIN - CHC spread of 16 wins.
  25. I think baseball jerseys pale in comparison to football and hockey jerseys, but if you are wearing any of those to a game it's fine. Basketball ones are dumb, since they are basically tank tops.
