How? That's saying the next playoff team will be made up almost entirely of the team's own prospects, and almost all of those guys would have been acquired by Hendry/Wilken. Unless they make the playoffs next year the 25 man roster will turnover significantly before then. And it's highly doubtful the organization as it stands will supply another dozen or so 25-man roster players to the next playoff squad.

No, it really isn't. It's not about waiting for Urlacher to retire. This is the NFL. Teams decide when they want to move on from a player, not the other way around. If a LB of value is available at the slot it would be perfectly reasonable to make the selection. The defense can use help everywhere.

He's completely replaceable. who cares if he's replaceable? the position is unimportant. he absolutely does all you can ask for at SAM and plays it as well as anyone could. replacing him with a first round linebacker and waiting for urlacher to retire is an indefinite waste of a pick. kuechly isn't going to perform much better at the position and as i said, could get sidetracked in his development. drafting a linebacker in the first is moronic. This team suffered from a severe downgrade of productivity and effectiveness at every single position, with the exception of Hossa, and he missed the playoffs. The obsession with goalie is not addressing the real issues. Is Crawford a stanley cup goalie? If Niemi can be, so can he. Is Marc Andre Fleury a stanley cup goalie? He just got his ass handed to him. And that's happened a lot. The Blackhawks didn't lose to Phoenix because of their goalie, they lost because they couldn't score goals. They lost because their best offensive player ended the playoffs with 4 GD points. They lost because they are completely incompetent on the PP. Goalies come and go. As soon as one plays well enough to get recognition and a contract he's no longer a standout. The Blackhawks need to shake up their core, which is either incredibly overrated or is still living off the accolades of 2 years ago. If they can get somebody to trade for Sharp, I'd like that. If they can get Buffalo to overpay for their hometown boy Kane, fine by me. If they can upgrade over Crawford, but don't do something stupid and acquire Luongo or some other reputation goalie with a big price tag. I'd rather go the gambling route on that position and go with cheap retreads or a kid out there. I'd be fine if they opened the season with Crawford, assuming they spend the offseason addressing the real needs. The rest of the entire team.

Not if Kuechly is there at 19. And if we trade down, David would make sense in the bottom 20's, despite being a slight reach. Thats also supposing there isn't also an equally talented player at a position of greater need, but I wouldm't be upset with a LB if the right circumstances happen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk we're set up to win right away, kuechly doesn't help us do that. you draft immediate impact players right away and then projects later on. i don't and have never believed in drafting the best player available, regardless of position. it may be that you have a more talented and seasoned alternative ahead of them on the depth chart. if kuechly falls, you look to trade down, if you can't you draft a pass rusher. With a qb or rb, sure. But with every other position there is more than enough room for that type of talent.

The biggest need is a capable goalie right now. I'm not a huge fan of spending big cash on a goaltender, but Crawford was one of the worst starting goaltenders in the league this year. That's a position that needs to be addressed somehow in the offseason. The biggest need of this team is to figure out how to score on the pp. all that high priced talent and stars and they are collectively incompetent. Goalies come and go.

Are we talking more than Rizzo and Jackson amongst that several? For comparison's sake, I'm not sure you can expect Rizzo to do any better than what LaHair has done to date. On the other hand, Jackson could probably start hitting right handed and do a better job than Byrd has.

You can only describe any aspect of a baseball team as good or bad based on how they compare with all of the rest. Philly was about as bad as the Cubs were last year and I'm not sure they'll be any better this year. What the other person was saying is that the level of bad they are doesn't quite match up with the description some people are giving it.
