  1. Pointless is in the eye of the beholder. Pittsburgh fans are awful human beings and deserve our scorn.
  2. I'll take that.A 6 bat / 4 power at second base? Along with above average defense & running? Hell yeah. 6 and 4 on a 20-80 scale doesn't seem good to me.
  3. Nobody can justify the statement that they don't have the opportunity to see these others players in today's modern game. Your desire for more IL doesn't resonate with me. I want the least amount of IL play necessary to be able to play one series at all times so that we can have the 15/15 set-up.
  4. What is so ugly? 2 off days within a 4 days stretch. You fly out to Cali, get rest, play 2 games and fly back, and get more rest. That's better than flying to anaheim, playing three, flying to Seattle and playing three then returning home with only 1 off day in between.
  5. What? I don't understand what you are trying to say. The Bears faced a weak team with a decent pass rusher and that pass rusher missed most of the game. That benefited the Bears. To suggest otherwise is just plain old stupid. You don't need a freaking play by play breakdown. The Bears crappy offensive line benefited from not having to face the guy. Why the F are you people making such a big deal out of this and taking offense at the suggestion that the blatantly obvious fact is a fact?
  6. I like that concept
  7. There's been a pretty clear generational change between the franchises since then. Pittsburgh is banking all their hopes on finally being over .500 and they are panicking about the chance they manage to fail at that. It was a decade ago when Cubs followers creamed their pants over finishing above .500 two years in a row. And they've been in the playoffs four times since the Pirates were last relevant.
  8. This Not this. People scoffed at the notion that the story was gaining some traction when it is a perfectly justifiable statement to make. Obviously that is not the entire story of the game. Nobody is claiming it is the entire story of the game. They benefited from it, however. If he was in there maybe they win by 15 instead.
  9. Absolutely nothing, eh? So they would've gotten the pressure they got in the first 5-6 plays on every snap of the game? Not every snap but a lot of snaps. The Bears' line has been horrible for years. It's not the 5-6 plays before Freeney went out that leads people to believe the line is bad, it's the years of ineptitude and lack of talent before those 5-6 plays. Until they can prove themselves over the course of several weeks and a variety of opponents, there's no reason to think they're anything more than bad. Correctumundo
  10. Clearly the Bears got better when he left. That's not even a question. The question is why. You have your belief. And I don't think anyone would say it's not at least a part of it. Other factors are that the running game got going, and Cutler hit some passes. Also without 7 step drops, the O-line isn't being asked to do the same things they were last year. Okay, but how did the running game get going? And how did Cutler start hitting some passes. The lack of 7-step drops explains absolutely nothing about what happened in that game. Why are people upset at the suggestion that the Bears benefited from the other team losing a defensive end?
  11. Absolutely nothing, eh? So they would've gotten the pressure they got in the first 5-6 plays on every snap of the game? Yes, absolutely nothing. Nobody is extrapolating the ratio of pressure/snap over 6 snaps and then stating that is exactly how it would have played out over 60 snaps. Sample size has nothing to do with it. The Bears offensive line is crap. They started out playing like crap. The other teams best pass rushing threat left the game, and the line somewhat settled down. Oh, but you're craaaaaaaazzzzzaaaaaay if you claim the Bears got better when he left.
  12. It probably should. That line was brutal early and really benefited from him leaving. Yeah, when I saw the original post I was going to respond with something similar. Being as objective as possible, the game definitely seemed to turn once he was off the field. Or the oline just started poorly. How many plays was Freeny in for? 6? That's a small sample size to make a connection to the oline improving because Freeny was out. Sample size has absolutely nothing to do with it. The Bears offensive line is atrocious. We knows this. When the only real threat from that game left it made their jobs a hell of a lot easier.
  13. I'd imagine most of the top 10 leaks out reports that they wanted their guy #1 overall. Usually that kind of report doesn't leak out before the draft though. Did the Cubs also say something to that effect as well? The original pre-draft report was that some other clubs believed that the Cubs loved Almora so much that they would take him at #1. You think they'd leak out that they were going to take a guy who wasn't going to be available for them?
  14. It probably should. That line was brutal early and really benefited from him leaving.
  15. Not at all. They tanked the season. Some people were on board with that and some were not. If you were on board with their plan and thought it was the right thing to do, but now want to squeeze out a few wins to see a little more improvement out of a group of guys who stand zero chance of being together when this team is finally good then you aren't making any sense. As somebody who was against the tanking of the season, I think it's pretty stupid now to hold onto any notion that there is something positive to take from a couple more wins this season.
  16. I'm curious but when was this? Everyone probably means Kyle. I remember cubinny ranting about Shark sometime this summer (probably many times), but I dont' remember everybody freaking out. It's been a long boring horrible summer of baseball though so I've probably blocked lots of stuff from my memory.
  17. I'm sorry I thought you were one of those people who was okay with what they did.
  18. I'm curious but when was this?
  19. I'd imagine most of the top 10 leaks out reports that they wanted their guy #1 overall.
  20. The odds of them becoming a decent MLB player are more important than the average wins, in this case. Besides, how much are your long-term projections on Castro, Rizzo and such going to change based on the next few weeks? Obviously, no one wants to see the team losing because Castro derrickroses his knee or Rizzo forgets how to hit. But if that random collection of Crash Davises we have on our roster right now costs us some draft position? I think that's worth being annoyed over. This is what I don't get. Two weeks of progress by these guys will show us nothing. Half the team is destined to be out of baseball within a year or two. How can you be on board with the deliberate tanking of this season, welcome the atrocious play of the team all season long with all of the attention paid to the future, and then pretend it's better to win a couple more games this September than get as close to the top pick as possible?
  21. He could be useful if they played this season. Naive, no doubt, but I can't believe all sides are dumb enough to let this happen again. I still don't believe they will. I can't believe that I believe they will let it happen, but I do believe they will miss time at the very least. Which is just so incredibly stupid.
  22. He could be useful if they played this season.
  23. Is that lineman downfield illegally when the ball is caught? Sure looks like it - that's the first thing I thought when I saw that picture. He's a good 2-3 yards in front of the line of scrimmage before Stafford lets the pass go. Play starts at about the 20 second mark. http://scores.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=320909008 I believe there's a cushion in there of about 2-3 yards.
  24. Is this a thing? disgrundle, datgrundle they are all things.
