    Its to bad we couldnt have fired Hendry and hired Towers and Bochy that would have been nice. I mean if they are both going to be availible.

    Yup, this is the reason this team will continue to suck untill Hendry is gone and someone with some brains is brought in. I dont hold out much hope for next season. I wonder how long it will take to get rid of Hendry.

    If the tigers make the WS I will definantly watch, I dont really find the A's all that entertaining. I usually dont watch the playoffs/world series as the Cubs arent usually in it and I have no real interest in the teams participating other than rooting for whoever is playing the Yankees and Cardinals. The Tigers are a real underdog type of team Id like to see succede though.

    I dont think Piniella really wants to manage again. He left Seattle in order to be closer to his family in FL Chicago is a long way from Tampa. I remember reading the Seattle papers when he left Seattle it sounded almost as if he was going to retire but took the Tampa job because it was so close to home anyway. Im really hoping he stays at home.

    How is Samardzija doing with ND so far I dont follow college football at all so I was wondering if someone could give a quick update. I was hoping there would be a thread somewhere following his football play but I have yet to find it if it exsist.

    hey guys I was having the same problem todayt normaly if I refresh it goes away but all day I have been unable to access the boards at all getting the same error message every time. I was just now able to get on.

    Yeah right! With what money? The money the gained from dumping Miguel Cabrerra's soon-to-be more expensive contract on the Cubs? :) Not official by any means, but when MLB.com thinks Freddi is going to be a Marlin, I don't have much hope: EDIT: Serena is fast. Aaarg! that sucks, thanks for the info. I didnt know there was a pressconference at 2pm I thought they had already had the press conference. Your probably right then.

    btw the Marlins havent hired Freddi yet so until I see a link I will assume he is still availible, to many people here assuming its a done deal. keep the hope alive! lol

    Since Hendry has already interviewed Freddi once couldnt he just call and offer him the job if he wanted? I really would have like to see us hire him, I think he'd be great. Seems like if he had the choice between the Marlins and the Cubs... well I suppose there are good arguments to why he would want either. The Marlins certainly have a wealth of young talent, but the Cubs job would pay a great deal more. He may find there is alot less pressure to succede in FL though and the talent pool is head and shoulders above what we have currently.

    I loved Stone I also really liked that guy that left and went to Arizona and is with Grace now. That would be the ultimate duo for me, they were broadcasting when I first started watching the Cubs on WGN with Harry as well of course.

    I really hope that we dont take a HS guy, our recent HS picks have not been good. Who was the last high school player we took in the draft that went on to do have an allstar like career in the majors? Wood was the last guy that even produced and looked like a good pick but I cant remember any others that paned out. I absolutely hate picking highscool possition players, it seems like they have a much higher risk to be bust than college players. Prime example Luis Montenez (spelling?) that guy has been in the minors forever and finally showed some improvment after the switch to the outfield but he's never going to be a guy that can carry a major league team. He'll probably wind up being a backup outfielder somewhere if he even makes it to the majors. Who were the guys that were picked around him? Anyways, I realize the draft is a bit of a crapshoot but if your picking with one of the first 5 picks you should be able to produce a competent major league player with that pick.

    I guess I could live with the 3rd pick, we might have a guy slip to us for signability reasons that would have otherwise been a #1 guy.

    I am far to lazy to look this up so I will ask someone else to instead. Who do KC, TB and PIT have to play for thier remaining games? Im wondering what our chances are. I dont want to get my hopes up.

    Still 3 back of KC? grrr I thought for sure the lineup that Dusty ran out there yesterday could net us another loss. Things are bunched really tight as well we could easily drop in the standing fast. Why cant Hill come up with a lower back strain or forarm cramp Jeez!

    Well Im toast but it was a good run. To many injuries. Pitching injuries have really been tough recently. Billingsley, Kazmir, and Schilling. Losing Chipper Jones and Jim Edmonds doesnt help either. Oh well! I learned alot and Im set up rather well for next year with my young pitchers and position players.

    Tim something is very wrong with the scoring, or Im just catching it at a wierd time of day or something. Its Tuesday morning and everyone is showing 0 points. You might want to look into why this is.

    ok thank God I can logg on and read some of the post on these boards and laugh till I cry. That post about the deli and the one about scat had me rolling. You guys have at least made this season bareable by making the lemons into lemonade. OMG that was some good stuff. At least if we are going to be bad Baker makes it funny. Every time I see quotes from him I will think of the Chef from Southpark sining in scat. thats all I can picture now rofl.
