  1. I've definitely converted to the "swing at the 1st pitch" strategy. It seems like tonight almost every first pitch from Webb is up in the zone, much more so than what he's throwing later in the count.
  2. Their clean-up hitter is Tony Clark. Seriously. And no, it's not 1998.
  3. Definitely. Humans play the game. If several players on a team are feeling good, seeing the ball well, throwing the ball well, and healthy all simultaneously, then sure, a team can have momentum. All we're basically saying is a team is playing well and is growing more confident as they continue to do so. Nothing outlandish about that. There is such a thing as adreline, and I also agree that it's generally easier to see in a basketball or football game where pure motion and 'burst' plays more of a factor; in baseball, you're basically stationary 90% of the time. And yea, momentum is all nice and good until you run into Santana or Webb or whomever.
  4. I got a silly question that might belong in this thread. So we have a bunch of players making the league minimum of 400k, all youngsters of course. If they get sent down to AAA during the year, do they go back to making 1000/month or whatever? For example, what did Murton make when he got stuck in Iowa early this year? Do we have to give guys like Fuld and Hart 400k when they're called up?
  5. Murton's definitely in.
  6. I don't think they should even give pitchers wins and losses. But that ship has obviously sailed.
  7. I'm sure the list is out there somewhere, but the worst W/L record I can recall a Cy Young winner have was Kevin Brown back in '96 when he won with a 17-11 record. Of course, his 214 ERA+ can speak to that. Edited to add: And of course I mean W/L for a non-reliever winning the Cy.
  8. Bedard if he had stayed healthy; seeing as that he didn't, I'll go with Johan. Regardless, Beckett's going to win and we all know it.
