  11. Knowing our luck, probably Rupert Murdoch ok, i have a myspace account, but i would NEVER support the cubs in ANY WAY if murdoch was the owner. NEVER. That would be huge (edit: HUGE) mistake on your part. Murdoch is a very rich man because he is very extremely successful and smart with all of his assets. If any man can turn the Cubs into the Midwest Yankees complete with media hype and wins to boot, its a man like Murdoch. Don't let your politics get in the way of what would be a great thing for the Cubs. God, only a liberal can see a bad thing when one of the most successful men in the world is suggested as a buyer for the world's worst bigtime franchise. Shouldn't you be in a drum circle or music festival somewhere? shouldn't you be praying somewhere out in the woods with a shotgun while hunting, after burning 20 gallons of fuel in your full-sized cab truck with a picture of calvin on the back pissing on France?
  12. i would love to retire at 33, almost 34 after playing a game for a living. this linux stuff isn't nearly as lucrative.
  13. harry kalas has just an amazing voice
  14. rowand just went yard. phillies up 5-0 in the 2nd
  15. it really is pretty crazy how bad the middle relief is.
  16. But then you don't get to see Erin Andrews. Always a nice plus. :D If you like Erin Andrews, you'll love this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIP7a9Z-YBM Did she ever sue that kid with the wandering hands? she probably didn't feel it through that silicon.
  17. It's really depressing. We're already 8 games back, and it really does look out of reach, now. I'm sure most of us have started seeing a Wild Card possibility, because it doesnt look too good in the central.. There's a long way to go yet, but it sure does look like the wild card will be the 2nd place team from the East -- i.e. Mets/Braves, whoever loses that race. Lots can happen though. 128 games to go. there's no way 8 games can be made up in the standings.
  18. That would project the Cubs to about 95 wins, if they can do that I think they win the Central without a doubt. As with any team but especially the Brewers, they are one injury to their starting rotation away from being a totally different team, and with Ben Sheets' history I don't think it is a jump to think this could happen. The Brewers do not have the depth to sustain a major injury to their starting rotation. the brewers do have a little depth at starting pitching. they have a kid at triple a, Gallardo, who has been unhittable this year. they also should be calling up Braun to play 3rd base before the all-star break. they have a good ballclub. who knows what will happen, though. there are a TON of games left.
  19. i agree that lou should have left wuertz in yesterday in that spot. i'm wondering if lou is yanking these guys instantly after they come in and don't get the job done? i wonder if he's trying to make a point with them, "you come in, throw strikes, or your a$* is coming out" or, perhaps he's just over-managing and that's not the case. Lou's handling of the bullpen has been flat out stupid. It has fortunately worked for the most part, but there was no reason to NOT stick with Wuertz or Cotts yesterday. Wuertz has been the best reliever on the team for almost 3 years. He can get out LHs just as well as RHs. Cotts has been the best reliever all year. His career splits aren't much different when facing a RH or LH. This year nobody has hit him much. No reason why either of those 2 couldn't have gotten out of the 7th yesterday, with a better result than bringing Howry in a bases loaded situation.
  20. i worked with "some dude" for 3 years in the capitol rec building. he co-wrote those songs with her and produced the album. he had 3 points on the record. he made a ton of cash, too. working with her on two occasions, she never came across as unintelligent. she was never whiney, full of ego or any of the things i often run into in the business. it's the nature of people to hate on successful things or people. it's understandable. well, no, it's just unfortunate. Some dude named Glen Ballard wrote the songs, not Alanis.
  21. no kidding. i don't know what's worse now. the fact that the song isn't really based around irony or the fact that anytime anyone mentions alanis' name they quick-trigger right to the "unfortunate" crap. what's unfortunate about being rich and selling the most records ever by a freshman release? nazis!
  22. *looks around the thread*
