  1. I would trade them if it meant the difference between winning the world series or not. Not sure how you could reach that determination though.
  2. It would seem like trading with the Yankees would require a big name to make a splash. Who's our best big name not so great trade piece? Soler?
  3. It is possible, he might be successful in a different situation. Yes, maybe. Thing is, he's nowhere near the best qualified man for the job and he's only a candidate because they're stupid. England's biggest weakness as a soccer country is how insular and ignorant of everything that happens outside of their bubble they are. The fact that they think he's a good candidate because "look at the great things he's done with the US" says it all. Bayern - unmitigated [expletive] show disaster. Toronto FC Technical Director - see above. USMNT - on balance, no progress and no regression. A total "meh" with nothing but spin, lies and arrogance to season the completely bland meal he's cooking. Germany 2006 - criminally underrated going into the tournament. That team had plenty of talent including some legends like Kahn, Ballack, Klose, Scweiny and Lahm. He gets way too much credit for finishing third at home. yea, I'm no apologist.
  4. can't blame him really. Too bad they didn't go the hockey route and let them fight until they fall down.
  5. On the BABIP part, I would think it's common for a pitcher struggling with control issues (often finding himself behind in the count) for their BABIP to rise as batters are in more advantageous counts/can eliminate certain pitches and sit on a pitch. No? Possible but I think it's just regression. The Cubs BABIP for the first couple months was unsustainable and Arrieta's led the way. Looking at those numbers though, it's pretty much the walks.
  6. Why Brian Kenny shouldn't take a day off - Rosenthal: "Giolito has a few hickeys on him" O'Dowd: "It's ok because big guys take a little bit longer to come."
  7. It is possible, he might be successful in a different situation.
  8. His command has been subpar for quite a while now. Seems to be catching on to the rest of the starters lately. I could have read it all wrong, but I thought there was some info posted recently that showed his command is still mostly fine, but opposing hitters are laying off a lot more than they did before. I hope you read it all wrong because that may be tougher to fix . . . Who is that in your photo on the top right?
  9. "It wasn't even a foul let alone a yellow." It was definitely a foul! You can't block a player with your body when they beat you. As for yellow, that is arguable but Messi was in on goal. The first yellow for Diaz could have been red given how high his leg was in hacking Messi down. To say those even out is just not right. I have no idea how you could say that wasn't a foul.
  10. His command has been subpar for quite a while now. Seems to be catching on to the rest of the starters lately.
  11. They may not get to Russia if they don't get it figured out quickly. I imagine Messi is pretty exhausted at this point and I can understand him not wanting to put up with all the [expletive]. It was noticeable the only person comfortable to talk to him on the bench after the game were his Barcelona teammates. That Rojo red card was complete nonsense and a perfect example of a makeup call. You can bet Vidal played for it. Totally changed the game. That aside, watching Argentina's players stand and watch Messi was pathetic.
  12. Nothing to be ashamed of tonight - toe to toe with one of the top-ranked teams in the world.
  13. It's Hatch today. Not doing too well
  14. awful game. So far Croatia looks far better than Portugal. The media seems to confuse having a great player with being a great team as they treat Wales and Portugal as if they are soccer powers.
  15. Seems that that game just started.
  16. Cubs going to get around to signing people soon?
  17. Is it time to call up Vogelbach and hope he hits so we can trade him?
  18. I'm glad they finished ahead of Portugal but it sucks that Portugal still advances.
  19. Very disappointing show by USMNT. I don't think that was any better than Mexico, who at least took a shot. For me, the disappointment is that the US is not advancing measurably. Getting out of the group stage is still the goal. We should be able to compete against the top teams and we can't. For starters, the US should play Copa America every time.
  20. Does he really need to take his helmet off after every pitch while batting?
  21. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/baseball/professional/carpenter-entrenched-at-leadoff-for-cardinals/article_fd6056b4-f052-51aa-8b87-672ca70e05ce.html They haven't won a game since this idiot went and shot his mouth off. Wish I could be at one of the games this week to remind him that he is stupid and plays for a bad team. They need constant reminders. The Cardinals were 44-22 on this date a year ago. Cubs were 11.5 out. Granted the run differential wasn't there for St. Louis. If the Cubs play the same pace for the rest of the season, they'll win 113 games. Cards would have to go 78-16 to match that.
  22. I think the Cubs are planning for Willson to catch in the playoffs.
  23. To alleviate boredom, a new team goal should be to have the opposing pitcher always through 50 pitches before he bats.
  24. I definitely can if they can't possess the ball more than they did against Ecuador. The remaining teams have far more quality up front and the US looked pretty shaky against Ecuador. Mexico fell into the trap when they got down 2 of pressing forward and they got burned on the counter. They actually had the pressure on quite a bit in the first half when it was 1-0 but that second goal killed them. I don't think the 7-0 tells the full story of that game - they just collapsed in the second half but they weren't overmatched in the first.
  25. It was amusing but sort of depressing for CONCACAF. That being said, Mexico played decent in the first half. I don't think the US will have nearly the possession Mexico did on Tuesday.
