  1. If the Cubs win 101 games, they will win the division by 10 or more games. But, the last slide started with a sweep by the Cardinals. The Cubs going through an extended fallow period was not "caused" by being swept by the Cardinals. That's an insane conclusion. Huh? No one said it was caused by the Cardinals.
  2. Finally Bryant! That ball might not go out at night.
  3. If the Cubs win 101 games, they will win the division by 10 or more games. But, the last slide started with a sweep by the Cardinals. Don't get me wrong, I'm not at all worried - but as far as not caring, I still care about results.
  4. Will feel better after that Cardinals series next week.
  5. He was running outside the baseline therefore he's out. I know the rule. But he wasn't outside the baseline until right at the base. It's a stupid rule. He stepped right in front of the throw. He should be out.
  6. Why? Why was it the correct call or why is it a silly rule? Why is it silly? You get called out going to any base if you're outside the baseline. I don't see why you should be able to obstruct the throw to first.

  8. well, they've only scored in one inning this weekend so why are you surprised?
  9. My fantasy team is quite pleased right now. Big Game James has taken on a new and different meaning.
  10. The home run in question: http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/73955164/v1019331083/miacol-stanton-sets-statcast-record-on-504foot-hr/?query=stanton Even HRT had it as a longer home run, by one foot (495 to 494 ft), than his 2012 Coors blast that looks like it clearly travelled further: http://m.mlb.com/video/v23980563/miacol-stanton-hammers-a-solo-blast-to-center/?c_id=mlb too low a launch angle . . . but 115.8 mph!!!!
  11. Let the HOF debate begin. btw, I think this was handled well by the Yankees.
  12. Mark Teixeira to retire. Was he the better choice?
  13. i still like them. just not after a day off after a day game. this is torture. Olympics opening ceremonies. More torture.
  14. Big piece of advice - bring WARM clothes. It's likely to be really cold.
  15. Hopefully he gets to bat 4 times but no - he won't k four times tonight.
  16. The best active pitcher in baseball threw a shut-out last night. duh.
  17. I went behind the A's dugout for both games, 11 rows up on Saturday and 22 on Sunday. I think I'm going on Friday also, on the third base side. I paid less for seats right behind the Cubs dugout than I did for upper deck at PacBell. I love the A's!
  18. And for allowing me to see Jake pitch on Saturday. He was the only starter I didn't see in Chicago last year. :| and I have to see Lester again . . . he better not suck this time!
  19. "They've got the division locked up" They are likely to win the division but this is an over-statement. Plus, they definitely don't have next year's division locked up.
  20. We've already seen the approximate price to get Lucroy, it's not low and definitely more than you'd want to pay for 1.5 years of a part time player. Lucroy is very good so it wouldn't make sense from a practical standpoint to play Contreras over him either(at least not this year). I would be ok with Willson going back to AAA to catch every day in that scenario. Though I think I'd rather see him in LF than Soler. I am not sure the cost is the same tomorrow as it was yesterday. To me, specifics on the players involved are important anyway. Basing things off prospect rankings is pretty sketchy.
  21. Is it wrong to hope Bumgarner gets hurt running the bases? God, I hate the Giants. Cain lifted with no-hitter through 5.
  22. I still don't think the OF rumors made sense unless there was a different deal sending out Soler. As it stands, Coghlan, Soler, and Baez(via Bryant/Zobrist in the OF) make a pretty strong combined option that I don't think is appreciably upgraded by Reddick/Bruce. It's the power lefty bat thing. As bad as Heyward and Montero have been, would be nice to have some power beyond Rizzo.
  23. I think Theo (poor Jed) is waiting it out to see what's left tomorrow.
