  1. Uh huh. Saw this over the weekend. Don't see anyone from Spurs on there. Shrug emoji. [tweet] [/tweet] Second on Chelsea to Tammy Abraham, but sure, Mount has been perceieved to be a revelation and Pulisic a bust. Sure would hate to have a 21 year old producing at that level, under outrageous pressure, on my team. Not to mention that Pulisic is a really good finisher and he hasn't been finishing. We have enough of a sample size to know it's a fluke. Physicality & pressure are the learning curves. If wasted chances aren't a fluke, they're probably just a factor of those things, not an actual learning curve he needs to overcome. If he adjusts to the spotlight pressure and gets stronger, which every athlete who's only 21 inevitably does, he'll be good money. This, from Ryan O'Hanlon, is very good on the subject: https://nograssintheclouds.substack.com/p/psst-christian-pulisic-has-been-kinda Excerpt: [spoil] [/spoil] I really think the physicality is relatively minor for him to address. The pressure, well, that's a bitch for sure. The other factors to overcome are the old but proven wingers (Pedro + Willian) who he's actually out-produced offensively, his finishing slump, and whatever tactical deficiencies Lampard may have as a teacher/manager (if that's actually a problem; might not be). He's going to be good for them for a long time if they handle this right. It's Chelsea, so that's definitely not something we can take for granted. The US is another issue entirely and pretty much not worth thinking or caring about, if you can pull that off. No Reds on there either . . .
  2. Was Son hurt? It's crazy how much more dangerous he is than Kane (at least to the eye).
  3. welcome to Sacramento MLS!
  4. if the bases were open then how was anyone in scoring position?
  5. Hope he's paying attention to the weather forecast
  6. two hits - first 69 mph double. second 63 mph rbi single
  7. love him or hate him, I think Klinnsmann is right about a lot of things in his recent interview.
  8. I was talking with an english co-worker and he was telling me it was likely the academy players would freeze him out to support their mates. He doesn't seem to be socially skilled enough to break that down.
  9. we can still win the run differential division. And that's important.
  10. There is no call on the field as the ARs are told not to flag it.
  11. yay? Since it's literally not possible to get to avaya in time for a kickoff, I guess this is good.
  12. speaking of josh sargent . . .
  13. But how far back do we go in the play? Is it only the guy who scores or sets up the goal? What about the guy who passes to the guy who sets up the goal? What if a guy wins a ball at midfield with his arm and dribbles all the way up the field before passing the ball to the guy who scored?Wherever you cut off the line, it’s going to be arbitrary. I don’t think this rule makes it any more clear cut than it was before. yea, it's not remotely consistent. if a defender accidentally arms a ball down and clears it, that has to be a penalty under this rule. otherwise, there is no consistency whatsoever. and the "high bar" for obvious errors is idiotic. I love how the PL has the arrogance to act as if they are the first league to have VAR instead of recognizing they are way behind the curve.
  14. Pedro is a pretty good player also but that Man U game really revealed their lack of forward threat. Did you watch yesterday's game? Sounds like they were better.
  15. Obviously his point is the roster is deficient not that Almora will get better. I get that. The roster is deficient. But Maddon's insistence on using Almora as much as he's done makes it even more inefficient. Saying you'd play Almora everyday is nonsensical. It's not a solution to anything. You can critique the roster all you want but that still doesn't justify Almora's playing time. It's cutting off your nose to spite your face. but hey, maddon is confident of an extension.
  16. robot umpires now. these guys are awful
  17. Umm, conveniently left out a word. Just including the word doubtful doesn't make the statement make any more sense. Obviously his point is the roster is deficient not that Almora will get better.
  18. remove the bleachers - you can just open a few fraternity houses out there.
  19. also, Reyna scored. https://www.espn.com/soccer/borussia-dortmund/story/3919504/dortmund-wonderkid14nets-six-for-u19s
  20. I almost wish I could feel that feeling again but I know nothing sports related will compare. Wisco winning a national championship in football/basketball would come close though. Bears winning the Super Bowl is my white whale now but I know it won't compare at all to 2016. been there done that. Bears didn't provide any drama. I don't think we even watched the second half.
  21. football? football is really fun to play - because no one plays with idiotic things like the offensive linemen can't twitch . . . watching football on tv is akin to watching 3.5 hours of commercials with about 10 minutes of action.
  22. generally, the fewer rules and judges needed, the better a sport is to watch and play in my opinion. sports where judges have to decide who wins are not interesting to me. I mean, literally every pitch of every baseball game that is not hit is interpreted by a judge. figuratively too. at least there is a defined boundary as opposed to say figure skating. ie I can see if a pitch is a strike or not.
  23. the infield fly rule is idiotic and should be abolished. why do you get punished for grounding into a double play but you are protecting from hitting a weak pop-up? Stupid rule. Heh, I kind of agree with you, but there are also triple play considerations...which depending on your outlook, are a reason against or for the IFR. generally, the fewer rules and judges needed, the better a sport is to watch and play in my opinion. sports where judges have to decide who wins are not interesting to me.
