  1. Nick was part of the flyin' Illini that went to the final four in 1989. well what if i would've hated the illini?! that was a fun team to watch!
  2. well, if you had started watching in 1989, you would have loved Nick Anderson and Horace Grant . . . wait, why nick anderson Nick was part of the flyin' Illini that went to the final four in 1989.
  3. that was my first year watching sports (pretty much spurred by the jordan comeback) and i was so horsefeathering mad about that. between the nick anderson play and then that, i HATED the magic as much as I've hated any of my teams' rivals since. i imagine the satisfaction i felt at that sweep the next year is the closest thing I have to what people felt about beating detroit in 91. well, if you had started watching in 1989, you would have loved Nick Anderson and Horace Grant . . .
  4. I would say one of most powerful moments in sports history. Kind of like Mike being like you . . . human.
  5. https://www.espn.com/soccer/united-states-usa/story/4092499/why-berhalters-us-are-struggling-to-earn-results-and-score-goals-in-big-games Bundesliga to resume May 16 (article is about USMNT)
  6. I remember savoring the sweep of Miami in 07 the year after they beat the Bulls in the playoffs. 91 vs Detroit must have been that times, I don't know, 200? I was 12 when this was all going on in 1991, and that series was everything anyone ever talked about at school while it was happening. The closest feeling I could liken that to was the 2016 NLCS game 6 at Wrigley, where the Bulls jumped on the Pistons early and never let up, except for 4 games instead of 1. It was a week long party. I think after 1990, we knew this was coming. the sweep made it all the sweeter. the other factor really was that other than the bears in 1985, no chicago team really ever really won anything and the bears dynasty was a bit like the 1990s braves. I was at one of the 1990 games, I thought it was game 6 but I think it must have been game 3 - the bulls were down like 20 in the 3rd and stormed back to win and that was the start of the championships in my mind - after losing the first two games, they came off the mat and took Detroit to 7.
  7. I bet they'll have a strong case for the innings totaled to be pro-rated for however long the season ends up being. How do you pro-rate for 0 games?
  8. you're the weirdo, weirdo
  9. so, when the premier league is suspended, Liverpool wins nothing? While it's clear the title race is over, the race for relegation and european spots is not . . . how do they handle it? epic game at anfield yesterday . . . Klopp is such an ass.
  10. i thought it was US or argentina? anyway, surely they dont let him get away https://www.espn.com/soccer/united-states-usa/story/4067394/dortmunds-giovanni-reyna-to-opt-for-united-states-over-england-argentina
  11. neither did chelsea.
  12. so does chelsea.
  13. are you lost? apparently I was, that was posted yesterday a little after 4:20 though, if you're wondering what happened newbie.
  14. are you lost?
  15. hahaha - it happens so easily. I also enjoy laughable english headlines like "can leipzig upset Spurs?" or "Lampard: Chelsea is underdog against Bayern Munich." - you think? The English remain so arrogant. Champions league games conveniently start at noon here in California . . .
  16. If he keeps getting these cameos I wouldn't be surprised to see him in March, especially since Weah's health is up in the air, Boyd fell off the face of the earth, and Morris could reasonably be held out with all the MLS + CCL fixtures on his plate. TOR! And a beauty! https://www.si.com/soccer/2020/02/04/gio-reyna-goal-video-dortmund-werder-bremen De La Fuente reups with Barca - he could be starting for first team soon the way they are going.
  17. Just getting Bundesliga minutes at 17 is awesome, but to do it at a power like Dortmund, and in an attack that already has Haaland, Reus, Gotze, Sancho, Hazard, Paco Alcacer, and Larsen is outright crazy. he got in again yesterday. Meanwhile Haaland is at something around 9 goals per 90. That's right, 5 goals in 50 minutes.
  18. yes, the illini bandwagon is the perfect place for a cubs fan
  19. Word is the fight broke out over an argument over which team's coach could claim more credit for the 05 Illini.
  20. Reyna makes his debut in the final 20 minutes for Dortmund. No one will be talking about that though because Haaland also debuted on 55' and managed to pick up a hat trick to pull Dortmund from 3-1 down to a 5-3 win. The Bundesliga is the funnest league to watch in my opinion. Seems like every team attacks. Would be great if Bayern comes back to the pack and the race is competitive every year.
  21. Gio Reyna called up to the Dortmund first team.
  22. There are three ranked teams in the bottom 5 of the big ten. I noticed that, lol. Although PSU dropped out with the latest set of rankings released today. and Illinois in (AP) - the kiss of death.
  23. Now tied with Northwestern for the basement. :-" There are three ranked teams in the bottom 5 of the big ten.
  24. #11 Ohio State. 12th in Big Ten.
