  1. He's injured again? That makes more sense. If your 6 is your top attacker, you have problems (though having a good 6 is key to attacking). Willian is ok too but Mason Mount is awful. It's painful to watch the number of poor passes he makes.
  2. I just have my doubts that they can sync up exactly when the ball is kicked (is it when they initially touch the ball or when the ball comes off the foot?), where the defender is and where the attacker is when it’s that close like that. This isn’t like whether or not the ball crossed the goal line. The one today that I assume you’re referring to was in the Spurs game. It looked to me like the furthest body part forward on the Norwich player was his shoulder. Where does the shoulder end and the arm begin? Arm can’t be offside because you can’t score with your arm. So theoretically it’s a clear are you offsides or not but because the line isn’t stationary, it isn’t that simple. it's first contact with the ball not when it leaves the foot. Lampard continuing to try to improve the offense by benching his best attacking player. Chelsea is not good.
  3. Really tired of people whining over offside reversals - if the player was off they were off. get over it. English fans seem to be far whinier than the rest of the world. I would support just making the rule about feet though - would be much clearer than the current rule and wouldn't make much difference.
  4. https://www.espn.com/soccer/juventus/story/4022328/cristiano-ronaldo-eyes-acting-in-a-movie-whenever-he-retires Fill in your joke here . . . . In other news, Martin Atkinson ended any hope for a competitive premier league season. Tough to argue any of his calls in that game but the guy seems to always ruin big games. Moments before the Ederson red I was actually thinking to myself "I wonder how the ref is going to ruin this game." Stupid red but it was amazing how helpless City was with 10. Meanwhile, Liverpool looked completely indestructible. Leicester's fast break counter attack was doomed to fail but hard to see anyone challenging the reds if they play with that intensity. And they all play again with one day of rest . . .
  5. When did the racism stuff happen? I stopped watching after the dummy goalkeeper forgot he could use his hands in the penalty area and karate kicked the Chelsea player to give away a penalty. Edit: Doesn’t sound like it was audible on TV. Saw Rudiger saying he was getting monkey chants. Hope they figure out who it was and ban them. right after son was sent off - maybe 62nd minute? Must have been a very frustrating game as a spurs fan - they were awful. Someone also threw a bottle at Kepa. The gap in quality from City/Liverpool to everyone else is huge. Leicester plays their game well but ultimately only have one finisher.
  6. Interesting PL day. Shocking that Watford beats MU and only Sissoko shows up for Spurs in a huge game. Have to say that Chelsea's attack is pretty weak although they completely dominated the game. Regarding racism, the commentators were saying Chelsea should have walked off . . . seems like it would be far more powerful if Spurs walked off or they walked off together.
  7. Spurs-Leipzig should be really good though it's not going to top Pep returning to Madrid . . . that could have been the final! I suspect Bayern will crush Chelsea. Wish I could give Athletico a shot against Liverpool. Now have to wait two months . . .
  8. I dunno, Salah looked horrible until he finally converted that impossible angle for the 2nd goal. Haaland has 4 goals(2 pens) in the previous 3 games against Liverpool/Napoli so he's at least shown off goal scoring bona fides against top competition. Presumably teams scouting him will watch more than just that game but he looked awkward and slow to me. I tell you who looks great is Lautaro Martinez.
  9. I wonder if this game is going to cost Haaland - looks terrible. Salzburg has every right to have had a shot to eliminate Liverpool but basically they can't finish and their keeper gave away two goals.
  10. "I'm more just upset that we gave away a huge piece of our team," Snell said. "He was the swag of our team. He lifted a lot of our position players up with just his presence and made other guys more swaggy."
  11. That was a great game! Liverpool have sure become whiny.
  12. I think there were "irreconcilable differences" with Poch so it was inevitable. Frankly, they didn't have the roster depth to compete on two fronts last year so going for Champions League made sense since they had no chance at the league. Too bad for them Kane returned.
  13. https://www.espn.com/soccer/tottenham-hotspur/story/3993891/mourinho-tops-spurs-wishlist-after-shock-pochettino-sack-sources hahahaha - that'll solve their problems!
  14. Yeah that too. Smart enough to be able to decipher the signs, but too dumb (or arrogant) to carry it out in a way that was smart/hidden. "We're going to set up an elaborate camera relay to steal signs, and then execute it via whacking a trash can and hanging up a horsefeathering towel and hope that one intern doesn't trip and drop the monitor!" I don't know - this is a sport where the umpires have to all walk off the field and put on monstrous headphones to hear the ruling on a replay. Have they not noticed yet that multiple ref teams that are in constant motion are fully miked and have perfect communication with each other in other sports?
  15. and not very bright if he sent this in emails.
  16. hate to say it but that scoreline really flatters the US performance.
  17. best player in the league is a pretty big (and difficult to judge statement). Do love the way he (assuming you mean Pulisic) is playing and that Chelsea is having success.
  18. non-story. the astros bullpen has been great all year. Good job smoltz shutting this non-story down. Does anyone do more than Joe Buck to make baseball unappealing to anyone under 70?
  19. Barca desperately needs outside backs. Is he that good?
  20. A needed good weekend for USMNT
  21. yea, that was a great bet. I was too lazy to book it.
  22. I just want him to not be a bad manager. we'll all hate him soon enough
  23. yea, I meant Lampard. Chelsea will play a lot of games this year so Pulisic should get his chances. Hopefully Chelsea does well enough for Lampard not to get fired and allow him to execute his plan (assuming he has one).
  24. maybe we should just trust Lampard? I hope Chelsea gives him a chance.
