  1. I tell you what Tim, just for you, I'll send you Luis Gonzalez if you throw in Ian Stewart with Liriano.
  2. 4-3 gets old quickly
  3. LOL, I hate the premium settings. But I'll renew every year so I can enjoy this forum at my own expense instead of Tim's. You make it sound like he's buying a rolls-royce with the premium money.
  4. hmm, 70 point day without a pitcher? tim, I just saw your note on batista - y'all need to email me or pm if you have a request like that.
  5. the criticism of remlinger's use is off-base. yes, remmy had reverse splits - he still had better splits against lefties than anyone in the bullpen at that time though.
  6. joe sounds a lot less stupid in this interview,
  7. Actually I think complaining about a fishing analogy is nitpicking at it's finest but this is probably a close second. being a baseball fan is all about nitpicking . . . and beer.
  8. Well, it was only a series in April. I think the fans really felt a change because there seemed to be a role reversal in the series where the Cubs inevitably came back and won. If I were a sportwriter, I wouldn't see any reason to change my evaluation based on just those three games however - to do so would be ridiculous. I would respect those writers more for holding to their opinions. However, I do think the series exposed the Cardinals achilles heel - their bullpen.
  9. not for the last 167 games he isn't. I think you are over-stating your case here. It remains to be seen if Lee can maintain last year's pace, but last year he was the better player - I don't think its accurate to say Pujols is light years better in every facet of the game.
  10. Seems to me Barrett hitting for Blanco was the right move and should be applauded. So was this post of yours simply to try to flame people who question Dusty's moves? I think most people are pretty happy with the way things have gone so far. Perhaps people aren't as dogmatic as you think - give them a chance maybe?
  11. Izzy will be better. unfortunately for you card fans, yesterday's outing was about par for the course for Rincon (I watch a lot of A's games) and Looper is less than dominant.
  12. I made you a starting offer.
  13. Useless only to those that can't understand a very simple analogy. or useful to those that understand fishing but not baseball and useless to baseball fans.
  14. The reason its dumb is because it adds no clarity to the subject matter. You use an analogy when describing something obscure or abstract to put the discussion in terms the listener will understand. In this case, nearly everyone listening understands baseball while only some know this fishing reference. Therefore its a useless analogy.
  15. the Fightin' Quakers? LMAO!
  16. mmmm-hmmm. partial comeback at least!
  17. That series in 2003 was pretty sweet - don't forget about THAT. Refresh my memory? when we won 4 out 5 I believe and never looked back, took the wild card, people were pegged, larussa and dusty screaming at each other from the dug outs in the middle of this wild card race.... right, except we won the division
  18. in a nutshell, that is the solution for the cubs offense.
  19. God, I love Michael Barrett. This feels like role reversal!
  20. wow, edmonds pulled late in a tight game. But he's the best CF EVER!
  21. wow, rincon sucks. too bad he's done. probably would have walked in the tying run if slappy hadn't kept swinging.
