  1. What are everyone's views on Radke retiring? I was wondering this because looking at his career stats, including those over the last 3-4 seasons they are very good compared to the very weak, very overrated, very soon to be overpaid FA class As a comparison take Gill Meche. Radke had slightly better #'s than Meche this year, and his numbers over the past few season's destroy his. IMO, I really think Meche is gonna get close to 9 mil/seaon. If so what does that make Radke worth? He is 33, certainly not young, but he could still have 2-3 decent seasons left in him. Maybe Radke is content and will walk away from an oppurtunity to make more $$$. But it will be interesting to see.
  2. This guy breaks down the FA starters pretty well. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2006/10/2007_mlb_free_a_1.html Whats the over under/under that Ted Lilly and Gil Meche get more than 8 mil/season? Heck I think Mulder is gonna cash in pretty good for having a torn rotater cuff (Please Jim, No!) This FA class is just terrible. :x
  3. This is my issue with the Cubs in that regard.... why can't these scrub roles be filled with young players that have some upside. ie....Is there a point to having a "Neifi Perez" on the roster, when the utility infield role could be filled by a guy like Theirot. Why have a "John Maybre" when you can fill that role with a "Scott Moore" Granted they want some of these young guys to get more PT down in the minors, but I really think they need to stop with the veteran's with no upside, and start integrating more young players into these roles.
  4. Let's hear em. Your biggest "duence" moves. Here are mine. Cris Cooley - Took him as the 2nd TE off the boards. I really thought with Saunders coming over he would explode, judging my the success of Tony G. in KC. I cut him 2 weeks ago. Luckily I had LJ Smith too. Randy Moss - I thought the whole ("Bad QB throws the ball up and Randy makes a ton of catches") aka Cullpepper to Moss would be reborn as Brooks to Moss. My draft was 2 days after the preseason game where they hooked up for 2TD's. Well Brooks sucks more than Cullpeppe and Moss doesn't care anymore. Despite this I have survived and I am in 2nd place. But man I wish I could have those 2 picks back. :(
  5. Ha I'm sure that will go over well
  6. Exactly. If they are gonna spend all that money, get 4 #1 starters. You can assemble the best offensive lineup in baseball, but on any given night they can get shut down by good pitching, its that simple. I don't think they realize that if they had 4 #1 starters they would easily win the WS most years. The Carl Pavano disaster just killed them. Between him and Beckett is any team going to trust the next veteran starter Florida looks to unload(ie Dontrelle?)
  7. The Yankees want MLB player(s) for ARod. Not prospects. If the Cubs wanted to get involved without giving up Zambrano the will have to leverage a 3rd team that has a stud pitcher(s) that are nearing end of a contract whom they believe they can't resign. Cubs get Arod Team X gets - Package from Cubs Yankees get - Players from Team X

  9. Is is really too much asking players to shower now and then? :P
  10. When listening to The Score one shouldn't expect facts to be accurate. LOL, true. Hub actually called Bonds a "Son of a Bitch" tonight. I wonder if they will ask him not to come back? I certainly hope so.
  11. Juan needs to grow the "stache" back. :o
  12. What is everyone's thoughts on re-signing Briggs? He already turned down a 5+ million dollar contract, if he wants more forget about it. Right now the catalyst of the defense is the DLine, and Tommie Harris will be needed an extension in a few years. You have to think about Grossman as well in terms of an extension. If they don't re-sign Briggs I would like to see the Bears go after Rufus Alexander in the draft.
  13. They were talking A-Rod on the score tonight. They kept mentioning that whoever got him would be on the hook for 25 million, which is not true. Texas is still on the hook for a good chunk of the $$$. I wish these idiots on the radio would get their facts straight.
  14. Is it they won't interview him, or he won't interview with the Cubs? Does he want to even coach again? Anywhere?
  15. I agree I am coming off as a Girardi-nut hugger, but if I see something posted about him that is blown out of proportion, or a myth. I am going to call it out.
  16. Now its down to simply what if's? Seriously, that Johnson incident is really getting overblown. He made a mistake as a manager. It's done. He took correct action after the matter. Johnson will be one of Florida's top arms in 2007. If you wanna bash a manager(who really did jeopardize a young arm) look at Mr. Gardhenhire(sp?)
  17. How can the Cubs hold down the most elite hitter in baseball, yet be so terrible in every other aspect. Seriously. I simply don't understand. I really don't.
  18. Next. If there is only hope for this team, it is our kids. Rich Hill Matt Murton Sean Marshall Carlos Marmol Pie, Gallagher, and Veal down the road. but at the same time now that I think about it, a bunch of young guys have had chances to develop down there.
  19. That really sounds like a guy that is reckless with young arms. Don't let the fact get in the way. The fact is he let a guy pitch after an hour and change rain delay. That single fact is not going to convince me he is reckless with young arms. Like I said, none of their arms were overworked this season, and they wil all be ready to go in 07, Johnson included.
  20. also, outside of Willis, no pitcher on Florida came close to even sniffing 200 innings.
  21. Yeah, Girardi was SO careless with Johnson That really sounds like a guy that is reckless with young arms. Yeah, he shouldn't have brought him out after the delay, but after that he was nothing but protective of Johnson. The anit-Girardi spin is getting out of control.
  22. 30 -33 is the prime age for many MLB players. I don't view Soriono as a Beltre who simply juiced to get his contract.
  23. I heard a rumor he was pretty good.
  24. He has a big head. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Bochy
  25. What makes you think Giaradi likes the Cubs over any other organization? It takes two to make a deal. We are not competing with every other team for him. I'm sure he'd rather coach here vs. Washington. and his mansion being built in the north suburbs might be a factor too.
