    I will. But since he's going to be pimped as a guy who is supposed to offer the best chance to win now, then if they don't make the playoffs in 2007, all bets are off. We don't even have to wait that long. If it is May, and players are making the same stupid fundamental mistakes, Iszturis is batting higher than 7th, then I'd say all bets are off.

    I thought he had nice definition in his shoulders and arms, but his abs could have used a little more work if you ask me. :-k Baseball players don't have to be models to be in game shape. I forgot the sarcasm emotion.

    Even if Izturis leads off instead? If the Cubs don't get the proverbial leadoff guy I'm curious if Lou or who ever the new manager is would have the stones to bat Murton leadoff. He is not gonna bat Izturis leadoff. Hendry may be a moron, but if he doesn't re-sign 4-3, he will get someone for the leadoff hole. I am a fan of getting Dave Roberts(provided he and Barret can kiss and make-up) who would come at a reasonable price and could bridge the gap for Felix Pie.

    Why do you think that? I don't think his curve is as sharp as a few years back. Mediocre fastball. I wouldn't mind him on the Cubs, but I would perfer Daisuke or Schmidt first.     Zito's resume is impressive no doubt. However I think his post-A's career is gonna follow along the lines of Hudson and Mulder.

    Piniella was not my first choice. But I'll give him a chance. Of course if the Cubs pull a 180 next season the stat monkee's will be hard at work spinning the fact that Lou deserve's no credit whatsoever.

    Not really. Merchandise revenue is shared nearly equally among the teams, so there's little merchandising revenue to be gained. The only marginal revenue oppornunities are higher TV ratings or the notion that a high profile signing will support higher ticket prices. There's gotta be some BS Hendry/McDonough can spew to Tribune brass to get them to pony up the bid fee. Increased viewership of the superstation in Asian markets?

    Cubs need to get this guy. Bottom line. They can make up alot of the bid $$$ in marketing/merchandise revenue.
