  1. because we have been playing .500 baseball with our current roster for the last 2 months? It was a hot streak. It got them back into contention, but to think they will sustain +.650 baseball the rest of the year is really pushing it. They havent even been over 8 games above .500 The team has to many weaknesses to sustain playing at that level for a 2-3 month timeframe. I really consider it more of a reach to think they will play .500 ball the rest of the way. Do you realize just how weak the schedule is the rest of the way? The Cubs will make the playoffs and lose in the 1st round....UNLESS WE GET ANOTHER FRICKIN' BAT. thank you very much Disagree. Get in, and its a crapshoot from there.
  2. These posts are getting insane. Rip Hendry for the overall shortcomings over the years as GM...not for making some knee jerk trade at the deadline that might have not even helped us.
  3. Everyone needs to call down. Jeff Conine will clear waivers, we will deal for him, and he will provide the moster bat in RF that will power us in the postseason.
  4. We have Kendall who is a veteran and has great career #'s..plus "brings it" every day. I'm not the least bit concerned. It's already been broughten. Was it as good for you as it was for me?

  6. I don't understand why everyone is so interested in a guy that's hitting .235...and based on the Red Sox offer, we probably have to give up way more than he's worth. That is a large of assorment of metrics you have there.
  7. Sammy Sosa is a hero to me and to hear someone call him a loser, is a personal attack against me. It should not be tolerated. People need to be sensitive of my feelings.
  8. You can't be serious. This argument is absurd. Do you think that "loser" Sammy Sosa in his prime (1998-2002) would not help this team? If you don't, I'm not sure what to say. How many teams did he help in that period? How many times was LOSER Sammy in the playoffs? You are an...whoops I mean...That post is an idiot. No. No. No. No. This is completely inappropriate, and you darn well know it. Do NOT derail threads with this kid of garbage. You know better. "Bending the rules" so to speak to insult a poster is not acceptable. Consider yourself warned and on seriously thin ice. To the rest of you: there will be precious little tolerance for trollish behavior or for "bending the rules" to call someone a name. That is insane...look at the garbage about Sosa he was spewing in this thread...it was off the wall...hell if I was at Wrigley Field and heard someone spout that crap I would have the same response.
  9. Could this be interpreted as attacking the poster (well, all of the posters) and not the post? Oh, and if I had a choice between answering the Santo Williams Banks etc question or just bailing I think I'd vote with my feet as well. probably, but this was used against the same poster which demonstrates the absurdity at how the no attacking rule is interpreted and enforced. I don't know what you are interpreting, but that is clearly attacking the post and not the poster.

  11. Just remember Penquin...the object of your hate..once hit 63HR's in a season for us...I bet you were a fan then.. http://www.gdargaud.net/Antarctica/Life/RacingPenguin.jpg
  12. Please don't leave...I am hungry for some more Penguin logic.

  14. I still can't believe people are blaming the Cubs failures of the past decade on Sammy. It is pretty clear that MacPhail was the main problem. It is funny how the Cubs never got any major external FA's...then immediatley after MacPhail leaves...the Cubs drop over 100M on FA's. Now I'm not trying to say that spending this kind of money is the cure all...but you can definelty "buy" your way to being competitve which is exactly what the Cubs have done this year.
  15. Can Gagne play RF and hit left handed pitching?
  16. Actually its because of LOSERS like Andy "I'm a worthless POS" McFa.ilure that the Cubs never won a WS during Sammy's tenure. He never opened the checkbook to get the needed pieces around Sammy. Lou Piniella hasn't changed any culture. McGarbage resigning and McDonoug giving Hendry the $$$$$ is what changed the culture for the Cubs.
  17. Baldelli is not better than Gomes.
  18. Decent stuff, nothing wrong with taking a flyer on him... Not really, but hope springs eternal.
  19. Cornelius Clifford Floyd Theres a difference. One can't move, one can't catch the ball. How can you catch the ball if you can't move to put yourself in a postion to do so?
  20. For real. I didn't realize that Badelli was good. I must have missed the memo.
  21. Gomes > Baldelli. I'd do it.
