  1. ^^^^ Ok. well.. lets get back to the topic.. and not my sarcasim
  2. well said. and more then that... if he brings the cubs a ring... i could care less Wait a minute. You two couldn't care less who owns the team, as long as it isn't the Trib? Isn't that what got us the Trib in the first place? Let's be a little more selective about our next owner. Please? Personally I think that as long as its not the tribune..whoever it is will know what it takes to win... and will get the right personell in here to win it all
  3. Soriano is also a FA, but he'll probably move back to the IF next year. Thats fine... put him at second. Soriano is also a FA, but he'll probably move back to the IF next year. Just because these guys are FAs after this season does not mean they will sign with the Cubs. The Cubs have a less than stellar history of getting good hitting position players to sign as FAs regardless of the amount of money they have to spend on signing FAs. Hopefully history wont repeate itself this year... we will just have to wait an see yes. thats all true.. but keep in mind we dont know how fast pierre would have heated up had Lee not been injured. I think he may have heated up a little faster if Lee never got injured. I am not blaming his slow start on Lee's injury just saying it may not have been as bad if Lee had not gotten injured.
  4. Yes. we all know that that is how Hendry feels.. and if used correctly I would be fine with that.
  5. Being a slow start doesnt mean he is hitting under .240 for the first 7+ weeks of the season like Pierre was.
  6. I meant I could care less that he is an (You Know What) if he brings the cubs a ring.
  7. Honestly I dont even know what his trick is.
  8. maybe they should just give the Cubs Soriano for nothing... that would make all of us Cubs fans happy, no?
  9. This is all off topic... Lets return to the topic Thats all fine and dandy.. but is he going to be another guy like Hill who is amazing at AAA but cant get batters out in the Bigs??? I guess the only way to find out is to call him up and with the injuries to Marmol and Marshall we have a chance to find out. Which begs the question, why dont they call him up?
  10. well said. and more then that... if he brings the cubs a ring... i could care less
  11. You guys forgot that Lee will also be a free agent this coming offseason... isnt he a "big bat". Personally I agree with those of you who say Pierre will be back in 07... I also agree that there is a limited # of OFers that will be free agents this offseason..The only one that catches my eye of those who will be FAs in the offseason is Lee.
  12. other than yesterdays game and his last start... I can not think of a single time he has KEPT us in a game. I believe it's called sarcasm. ok well it is hard to tell if its sarcasim or not by reading text.... maybe you should note that you are being sarcastic... like i do. Just a helpful idea. That would be so much more effective if you knew how to spell sarcasm.  your right. unfortunately I am not a good speller
  13. with Dusty for sure.. I am not so sure about Hendry tho.Usually a new owner wants his own front office. he doesn't want the previous regime's staff, which means MacPhail would likely be canned as well. I did not think of that.... you are absolutly right The are also owned by a company THE TRIBUNE who doesnt want to cough up what it takes to get players who wont have "bad luck" in here... maybe Trump is willing to do that
  14. Ok. So lets say the Cubs to shop Pierre. what do you think they can get for him? and then if he is moved... who is our leadoff guy?
  15. other than yesterdays game and his last start... I can not think of a single time he has KEPT us in a game. 16. even then.. you can be watching a movie or something while the game is on... and log onto nsbb to talk about how bad the team is. lol. sorry it is the truth
  17. OMG, this is the reason he needs to go!!!!!! Thats what we are all in agreeance on. *Sarcasim* dude, I'm not sure what your post even means. perhaps you are agreeing with me, perhaps not. but I do know that these one line posts that add nothing to the conversation are not particularly welcome. I know you are relatively new, but the general idea here is to not be like the ESPN and Cubs.com boards. I was agreeing with you. but in a sarcastic way because i feel that what you said is an obvious statement
  18. with Dusty for sure.. I am not so sure about Hendry tho.
  19. If they were actually winning.. you would be waiting till the end of the game to log onto nsbb.com
  20. Fine. We sign him in November. I, personally, don't want him back. There will be better CFers to sign. If Pierre doesn't want to discuss extension you trade him. It's better than risking him leaving via FA and not getting anything but a draft pic that we'll use for a toolsy player with no plate discipline. There will be other CFers to sign..yes. But we might also be looking for a right fielder or even a left fielder.. cause Jones may be traded.. and Murton could be too. We could be looking at a whole new outfield next year. Where it comes to trading Pierre.. yes. I would agree if he doesnt wanna discuss an extension trade him and get something in return.. in the case he goes elsewhere in '07.
  21. That was made without making trades. If I could pull off some deals, there's other moves I might make instead depending on what the Cubs could get in return for Maddux/Pierre/Walker/Nevin/Blanco at the deadline. Those moves could impact any number of spots and roster decisions. Other possibilities, is moving Jones to CF and using the Matthews money to upgrade another spot. Trading some excess pitching arms could net a bat, making the signing of Sheffield which is risky unneccisary. Only thing I dont like is...... no Hank White. as i keep saying.. he is one of the better backup catchers in the game.
  22. here is the post i said i miss read I realize that. I'm talking about the post that started the thread. The post that referenced Phil Rogers. ah i see now... so you are saying based on the original post put ronny at second..and tejada at short... either way.. as long as we have tejada in the lineup.
  23. It's not a firesale in the sense that we're unloading them because of salary. We're trading them with an eye for the future, but in the Cubs case that future should be next season. Does it really make a difference if we lose 89 games or if we lose 96? i see what you are saying now.. and I totally agree. It doesn't matter what we get for Pierre. We're still going to have to produce the dollars to sign him in the offseason. Get the best player you can whether it's a pitcher or not. We also have Pie in AAA that can play CF or shift Jones there. As if we dont have the money to sign him... and Pie is not ready for the big scene yet. I doubt extensions will be signed. It's a risk you take, but most players prefer to test the waters of free agency than take the first offer made. If the Cubs want to retain them, make the best offer now. If Pierre turns it down, trade him. If it's the best offer you want to make, then you know it doesn't matter what another team is going to offer. I agree with you.... but they dont like to talk about extensions during the season.. as if it matters with how bad they are doing.
