  1. yes.. I definitely do NOT want the Pierre we saw in the first half, and what makes you say he will never start walking?? it isnt like he is striking out 50+ times a season. the most k's he had in any one season was 52 in 2002 with Colorado and he only had one other season where he k'ed more then 40 times.
  2. actually... to me it has sounded like he wants to stay because he thinks that the arent to far off from contending. Unfortunatly I have not quotes from him.. because I dont remember when he was last interviewd.. but I do recall... it was on CSN
  3. Ok.. sorry for starting controversy again over nothing. I just have to learn to take things as a joke when I am unsure if its a joke or not. Back to the topic at hand.
  4. You and Pedro are drinking from the same Kool Aid, and its apparently spiked with Angel Dust. LOL. w/e I was just making a joke.
  5. Personally, I think it is because of Dust Bags.
  6. Put down the bottle, it's much too early to start drinking. I dont drink anyways..LOL
  7. Then shouldn't you take it upon yourself to learn more about the player instead of just deciding you would rather have Dempster? Closer is the most overrated "position" in baseball. Probably.. but the reason I dont care right now is because a trade has not been made yet. That doesn't make any sense. yes it does... what i am saying is. If this trade were to take place and go through I would look up Broxton's stats... and then decide if I like it or not. Its not like my opinion really matters to the Hendry. What I do know is right now I would rather have Dempster than some unproven rookie. who has never had the chance to save a game.
  8. And Soriano crushes him in the SLG/OPS department. Now compare Pierre to Damon and Sizemore and Granderson and Ichiro and Rollins and Roberts (both) and Youkilis and Reyes and Podsednik and Biggio and Weeks. ok i didPierre: OBP AVG SLG .351 .302 .375 Damon: OBP AVG SLG .353 .290 .433 Weeks: OBP AVG SLG .348 .256 .397 Hmm...looks like Pierre is average compared to them. I am not saying I wound not rather have one of them... just saying with what is available... I would rather have Pierre.
  9. What if we could get all three.... I know even getting one is prolly a long shot... but just imagine how good wed bee if we had all three.

  11. Not true. If anything Dusty sticks with pitchers way too long. Trust me with the bullpen worn out this weekend with Marshall and Marmol going down Hill will be in there as long as Dusty can bare it. ....Sorry.. you cant use this weekend as an example.. because 2 of the startes got injured....
  12. Ok.. I will compare Pierre to Soriano. Pierre Career Stats: SPLIT G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB BA OBP SLG Career 942 3820 568 1154 137 55 10 264 303 .302 .351 .375 Soriano Career Stats: SPLIT G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB BA OBP SLG Career 900 3654 578 1027 224 18 193 527 194 .281 .325 .511 Both have been leadoff hitters for at least 50% of their careers... and overall Pierre has a better AVG and OBP. oh yah.. and Pierre has more stolen bases
  13. I agree with Dusty on this one...But the problem is the minute Hill struggles..... Dust Man will take him out. Thats the mistake.... it isnt like we can save the season at this point just let Hill pitch 6 to 7 innings. unless he is throwing a lot of pitches..... and is close to or over 100 pitchers after 5. But at least let him go 5.
  14. According to Dust Man yes..... but I knew he wouldnt do jacksqat for us.
  15. Sorry, Pierre isnt below avg... nor is Jones. Rowand cant bat lead off... so I wouldnt want to give up Pierre to get him...On the other hand, Murton is below average... but he is also still in his first FULL year as a major leaguer.....so I am not ready to give up on him just yet unless it means getting a big name powerhitter to take his spot in left. Pierre's career OPS+ says otherwise. Pierre is mediocre at his very best. Jones, however, has a career OPS+ of 101, which is just barely above average, so you're right on that one. I was saying that Pierre isnt below avgerage compared to other leadoff hitters. overall yes... he is way below average.
  16. Theriot can play sort??? did you mean Short. if thats the case then yes... I say make Theriot a utility man and Fontenot a starter. That's been my thought process for a little while. It's a good way to address the position and 1 spot on the bench for little money, but in order for it to fly for a contending team, OF and SP have to be addressed with the leftover money. yes... if they fill the two 25man roster spots with these two... and dont spend the money on SP and OF I will not go to a single game next year.
  17. Theriot can play sort??? did you mean Short. if thats the case then yes... I say make Theriot a utility man and Fontenot a starter.
  18. I wouldnt... Pierre is 3 years younger.
  19. I wouldnt want him to be the SOLE owner..but if he was part of a group of owners.. I would be fine with it.
  20. I would do this if Theriot was not involved... cause if he is we would not have a second baseman. Then again... i guess you could put Tejada at second I like Fontenot's power potential and good discipline at 2B more than Theriot. He would probably be better. Theriot is probably going to be best as a utility man, not a starter. Any pursuit of Izturis is a waste of time. I agree that Izturis would just be a straight waste of time..... and to me Theriot and Fontenot are basically the same player except for the fact that Theriot has less power.
  21. Yes. The Cubs usually overpay. But in this case the have to do whatever they can to keep Pierre. And as for that being enough to content. Well, I will say I know its not.. but we still need to have a leadoff man that is at least average.

  23. if you could do this without getting rid of Dempster I would rather do it then. In order to get value a team has to be willing to part with value. The purpose of the trade would be to fulfill the Dodgers needs as well as the Cubs own needs. In this situation, the Dodgers need pitching and either Dempster or Howry could be used since they hold the most value in the pen. I'm not excluding Eyre, but he has an NTC. Ok. I realize that. But I dont know much about Broxton thats why I say if we could do it without getting rid of Dempster I would like it more
  24. if you could do this without getting rid of Dempster I would rather do it then.
  25. That's not nearly enough to make this team contend. Really? Assuming that we pick up a player somewhat like Walker to play short (I'll use his name here, even though I don't expect him to be here next season), that would give us a lineup of: Pierre Walker Lee Ramirez Lee Barrett Jones/Murton Cedeno That's a pretty nice lineup. Cedeno if he plays like he has this year is mostly a hole down in the 8 spot, but his stats are probably only going to go up from this year, not down. A Jones and Murton platoon is going to give you good production out of right field to go with Lee's good production out of left (not great like this year-but good). If we shored up the pitching like the person said by signing a starter or two, that team could certainly contend. yes.. but thats also asuming the we get Carlos to come here.
