  1. Why do some people assume Prior is just a big wuss and cant take pain? Did I miss the quote from any reliable source that said his injuries were overblown by him? Also sometimes a coach forces the issues and takes caution with a players pain. Prior sure was a wuss going back out there to pitch after colliding with Giles in 03. And he sure was a wuss for returning quicker than expected from the line drive on the elbow. If I recall correctly he missed his next start or was taken out of that game after the collision..
  2. Randy Wells. A converted catcher who is having a great season at AA and now AAA. He should probably rank between 10 and 20 in the Cubs top prospects. His best asset is his control, he has an 88-92 mph FB, plus change and average slider. ah i see... so he is the next Marmol????
  3. Unless that team was the Cardinals or the White Sox, why would you care what he does for that team if the deal helps us?? Howry, Eyre, and Dempster should only be traded if we get an offer we can't refuse. Pierre, we need to cut our losses and trade him. His stock is high. Blanco, I'd like to keep, he's a good back-up to have. If you are trading Howry, Eyre, or Dempster, not only does it have to be an offer that cant be refused.. but it has to include a pitcher. Its too soon to give up on Pierre because of what we gave up to get him... Now if we get pitchin in return for him I would be fine with that.
  4. I wasnt watching the game... but on the radio it sounded like it was his leg.. not his arm. I say shut him down for the season or until Baker is gone. So that we dont ruin his arm.
  5. I don't think being tired of the saga is a good reason to give Prior away. I understand your frustration, but he could still get it turned around. Look at the careers of Curt Schilling, Jason Schmidt, Chris Carpenter . . . there is no reason to give him away. I would completely agree with that.
  6. hence why i said we should trade himRusch has negative value at his salary. We would have to trade him for nothing and eat salary. Better to keep him and not play him. Better still to cut him. ok so then just DFA him... if his trade value is so low.
  7. Sorry. about the personal attack.. But IMHO the should lure Maddux into retirement... and then get him to come back as pitching coach or possibly even manager
  8. I would never do this.. because even though Pierre's speed might be overrated... He is still the fastest guy on the team... with the exception of sucky Fast Freddie Bynum (who is prolly out for the rest of the year and not in the plans for 07) and Maddux is probably the second best pitcher on the staff right now behind Big Z.... he is just not getting run support when he is pitching. Also, I would want at least one pitcher in return for Maddux. I would not trade Marshall without getting a pitcher in return.. and I definatly would not trade Ramirez.. who says he is not going to leave after this year even tho he has the option too... and is signed through the 2009 or 2010 season I would not trade Howry because he is a big part of the back part of our bullpen... I might trade Guzman.. if the right deal came along.. but even he would take a deal that blows me away to agree to. I agree about using the Wood money to re-sign Z.. but I would also resign Maddux and then trade Prior and sign Schmidt. I agree that we should try to make Wood a reliever and then get rid of Wuertz. I agree not to speculate on the bench.. and even if Dusty is gone.. Perez has to go. He isnt worth it. Mabry is prolly going to retire... hes old... if he doesnt I say bring him back. and Call up Theriot
  9. Probably not considering he is a big part of their offense.. and they are still in the wild card race.
  10. If that is how you feel about a future hall of famer.. you are the dumbest person I have ever seen.
  11. Keep hoping.. they see the good in keeping him here. Then even if he decides to retire as a player they can lure him into being the pitching coach.. or maybe even the manager for next year.
  12. Yes.. sorry. I went and edited it. I need to watch my mouth.Sorry
  13. I watched that Sunday afternoon-evening Cubs-Mets game, but that's been it. I am willing to rate that as the absolute worst game ever by the Cubs... blowing a 5 run lead only to lose by 6.
  14. apparently NOT... for crists sake... I am happy I forgot to set my tivo to record this game.
  15. no need to dwell on the past..and personally I think Wood was ruined before he got to the majors because of his back issues he had as a kid.. as for Prior.. as I said in the other thread... I think he will return to form next year. That is just irresponsible. Wood wasn't ruined in 98 or 01,02,03. He was ruined by Johnnie B Baker. Plain and simple. Yup, Dusty caused Kerry to have to undergo Tommy John surgery after the 1998 season. Also, you claim Kerry wasn't ruined in 2003 yet claim he was ruined by Johnnie B Baker. But I believe Johnnie B Baker was the Cubs manager in 2003. So you are, in essence, contradicting yourself. WTF, Baker was not even here in 98... and also, I didnt claim he wasnt ruined in 2003... he was. he just had a lucky year where nothing was bothering him... oh and I will go out on a limb and say that right now.. all the talk about his shoulder is a cover up.. and the truth is.. its his back thats hurting him.
  16. hence why i said we should trade him other than yesterdays game and his last start... I can not think of a single time he has KEPT us in a game. I dont think we should give up on Prior until he doesnt show up to spring training ready to play.... then DFA him and forget about it. and who is Wells????? Never heard that name before.
  17. Trust me on one thing, Howry, Eyre, and Dempster are in our plans for 07.. if they werent we would not have offered them 3-yr deals. Pierre, if we can get something big in return for him I am fine with moving him... but I dont think we can get much for him that why I say dont move him. As for Hank White...I say wait till the offseason to trade him.... because you dont want to trade him to a contender and have him possibly help someone win it all.
  18. I agree on Trading Nevin and Williamson. Also, I would trade Walker, Novoa, Rusch, Perez, and Ohman as well. I might trade Mabry or just let him finish the year.. since he is only on a one year deal. I would not trade Pierre. Simply because of how much we gave up to get him. I am definately not trading Dempster, Howry, or Eyre for any reason. I definately would not trade Blanco.. Hank White.... because he is one of the better backup catchers in the game.
  19. ummmm... if Willis goes to St. Louis. we would prolly be screwed for the rest of eternity.
  20. Izturis is not only bad. He sucks at leadoff. and I like the Ramirez thing. Which is more likely to happen.... the Izturis one.. because I think the Dodgers are trying to move him.
  21. Nobody. Teams DON'T usually TRADE for pitchers like Dempster already SIGN an extension. My guess is Milwaukee would be more interested in Scott Williamson then Dempster. And Corey Hart would be about right. not only that..... but teams dont usually trade in the divison for pitching during a pennate race.
  22. if Maddux went to the Braves and then retires..... he would have then only played for 2 teams.. throughout his career The Freakin' Cubs... and The Hotlanta Braves
  23. your absolutly right... I made a mistake here is what i meant to say Here is what I want to see happen I want to see them shut Prior down for the rest of the year.. and then call up Hill or Guzman then I want them to trade Williamson for some minor league prostpects and call up Hill. Then have a semi-6 man rotation the rest of the season: Zambrano Maddux Marmol Marshal Hill/Guzman (give each one every other 5th start and use them in the bull pen in between starts) or even better stick to a 5 man rotation, dont shut Prior down and go with this: Zambrano Maddux Marmol Marshal Prior/Hill/Guzman (give each one every third start and use them in the bull pen in between starts)
  24. no need to dwell on the past..and personally I think Wood was ruined before he got to the majors because of his back issues he had as a kid.. as for Prior.. as I said in the other thread... I think he will return to form next year. That is just irresponsible. Wood wasn't ruined in 98 or 01,02,03. He was ruined by Johnnie B Baker. Plain and simple. It would be classic Dusty to push the blame off on anyone else besides himself. No this is facts... Wood has had back problems since he is a kid... and needs to find a different occupation.

I'll admit that all of them are not things he should have been able to pitch through.... but some of them definately are.
