  1. I have 2 games up now-it's working just fine. I'm using a standard cable modem.
  2. i just got that too. other than that its been solid. MMOD is powered by mlb.com so anybody interested in mlb.tv this is a good test. Premium would have twice the quality. I actually kind of thought that must be the case-their answer to if you can run multiple video players at one time is word for word what MLB.TV says, so I figured they must be connected in some way. Multiple....hmm Are you doing that? Not yet-I'm about to try it. I'll let you know what happens if nobody tries it first.

  4. Did you try clicking on another game? Did you click on watch now, and which game was it? Yeah, I've tried clicking on all the games and it says the same thing every time. I'm using firefox, I'm now trying a different browser. you have to used IE i believe Firefox 2.0 is supported, but no other version of Firefox is. IE is still recommended though, and you have to change the video acceleration settings on the player while running FireFox 2.0 to get it to work well.
  5. Did you try clicking on another game? Did you click on watch now, and which game was it?
  6. I just think there wasn't enough people signed up last year to make the VIP-General Admission thing matter at all. This year, many people signed up beforehand and got those VIP passes.
  7. Comptuer I will follow it on the computer, but that's not the same. I'll never get in to view the game. If you try to get in between 5 and 7 when the only game that is available is the one that will be shown on TV (and therefore no online games available), you should get in pretty quickly. Then you just need to keep it up till the IU game. Last year, it was pretty easy to get in at night-I usually got in within 1-2 minutes-we'll see tonight how it is this year.
  8. No, you need to refresh it and start in the back of the line-that's what I had to about 30 minutes ago because my computer was doing the same thing.
  9. Yeah, I'm watching the game online tonight. BTW, I have made it onto the video player-for the others to remember when they make it in, remember every once in a while (once or twice a hour) it will ask you if you are still there-you need to click that you are within a few minutes, or else it will kick you out to save bandwidth and let other people in. The funny thing is-right now I have no game to watch, because the only game is of course on my TV right now, and blackout rules state that the game that is being shown in your local area can't be streamed online. Do you know how they do those live look-ins for a few minutes? When the game you are watching online goes on the TV for a few minutes, they will say that you cannot watch the game online-it will come back as soon as they switch the game on the TV.
  10. I stopped for a few minutes as well, but now I'm moving again-in fact, I've moved 3k in the last minute.
  11. March Madness on Demand-you can watch any game that's not being shown on television in your area for free online. Wow, that looks nice. Aside from the 65000 people in line ahead of me Don't worry-they let people in every 20 seconds-in the past 15 minutes, I've moved up 25000 places in line, so at worst you would be in about 15-20 minutes after the first game starts.
  12. There are 2 corner OF positions, and they are nowhere near set for the next 3-4 years. One of those corner outfielders certainly is set with Soriano. The Cubs already said that the reason they had a tough time finding a guy to replace Jones over the off-season was that they refused to get anybody that could block Pie for any reason-that's not likely to change, so Pie gets CF. Then you have Murton. To sign A-Rod, they would have to pay him 15+ million, then shift him to completely different type of position than he's ever played, and then trade Murton. That seems very, very unlikely to me. You are just giving away a spot to Pie, who hasn't come close to locking down a gig, and claiming the Cubs are dead set on a guy who they are platooning this year. Soriano is the only sure thing, and they might need him for center for the next several seasons. Besides all that, you'd be insane to pass on ARod because you think you might have a decent OF without him. ARod is a difference maker. He would easily vault to the top spot on the Cubs. You make room for people like that. Hell, trade Murton if you have to. I like the guy, but he's no Miguel Cabrera. Well, I wouldn't just give the spot to Pie-but it certainly seems like the Cubs are. A disastrous season by Pie in Triple A may change that though. I'm not saying what they should do-I'm saying I don't think there's any way that the Cubs would consider A-Rod for a corner outfield spot.
  13. The only time he played less than 140 games in his career was 1999 when he played 129 games-so he has never been hurt for a significant period of time. I forgot one other thing-people believe that A-Rod's defense is getting worse at 3B, not better-which leads them to conclude that his overall defensive skills are slipping and that a move to SS would not help matters in that regard.
  14. He will be 32 in July, and there are questions about him being able to play short anymore because he has bulked up a little bit (and of course hasn't played there in a while). If he can play short passably is a mystery that nobody really knows for sure right now.
  15. March Madness on Demand-you can watch any game that's not being shown on television in your area for free online.
  16. 41,280...looks like i'm moving up about 1k spots every time it refreshes Thanks-my screen was stuck, but I'm moving up now-it looks like everybody that is in line right now should be in with plenty of time to spare before the games start.

  18. I don't think that is the case at all. He could play 2nd base or one of the corner outfield spots. 2B, maybe. The Cubs are not going to sign him to play corner outfield though-they already have their future plan for the outfield set out. How is that? Pie and Soriano are two, but if you're thinking Tyler Colvin three, I like Colvin's upside. But he wouldn't bump A-Rod from a job, c'mon. Rodriguez, Soriano, Pie--yep, I could live with that. :-) It seems like they are content with Murton (after this year) to have the job full-time for at least 3-4 years. That kind of stuff is constantly in flux. Ruling out the acquisition of ARod because you think you might have a position settled for 3-4 years would be absurd. I still said they might acquire him for 2B-but they are not going to acquire him and pay him all that money for a position in which they already have players they are happy with.
  19. Anybody want to get in line for MMOD and tell me what the next admission says? I'm not sure if my page is responding correctly because it's past the time when they were supposed to start letting people in, but I don't want to refresh it and possibly lose my place in line.
  20. When I think of a great player who had injuries and tried to come back and was never the same even when healthy enough to run again, my mind goes to Gale Sayers.

  23. Actually this is only partially true. Prior has options left but his clock has expired. He could be optioned to the minors but he'd have to clear revocable major league waivers. So it's possible he won't be able to be demoted? Ouch. I would imagine some club would pick him up on waivers. He's not making superstar money. That's rather sucky. From what he said, it's revocable waivers, which means the Cubs can pull him back if somebody claims him. It typically is courtesy to not make a claim on those type of players because the other team knows that the Cubs will just pull him back and keep him, but that's not always the case.
  24. For this one, it really depends on who you think will win the game. If IU can slow it down sufficiently, that may be possible. I will let you know-with similar offensive strategies last year from both squads, those 2 teams combined for 170 points last year. I'm leaning to the two teams having more than 142 tonight, but I'm not completely sure.
  25. This is backward thinking. If its close it should go to Guzman. Miller should only get the nod if he is clearly better. I fear this is going to be another case of the Cubs stunting the progression of a young player for the opportunity to give a mediocre veteran with no upside a chance to improve. It's not just those two players in a vacuum though. If Guzman wins the job: Miller is traded for not very much If somebody goes down or is ineffective, then the next pitchers in line are Prior (if he's healthy by then), Cotts (who hasn't been effective at all), Marshall (who is well behind and not might be ready to pitch at all, let alone be effective) and Mateo (who is not major league ready) If Miller wins the job: Miller either gets the chance to increase his trade value or he is ineffective and released after a while-not much loss if we didn't get much for him in the first scenario, and a possible gain. If somebody goes down or is ineffective, Guzman is waiting in the wings to take over. If they are similar pitchers, it's better overall for the Cubs this year to go with Miller to start off with-it gives you much more of a margin for error. On the surface I wouldnt disagree with anything you post here. However you dont show any downside to sending Guzman down. At some point a player is going to have to pitch and probably struggle at the major league level. If there is a good chance that Guzman will be better than Miller(certainly more potential) and has already reached a level of success at the previous level(Guzman had a solid AAA season when there), you will end up risking that you MAY stunt his development. You will probably not make him more major league ready by sending him down. The only thing that will probably help him progress to the next level is to go through growing pains in the major leagues. I would say the sooner the better. It would be better for the Cubs longterm to start Guzman now. Secondly the only way that Miller gets any real trade is if he performs at a level that we wouldnt trade him anyway. So the trying to increase his trade value arguement is really not important I agree that the Cubs would be better long-term by having Guzman start-but the Cubs are in a win now mode, and they have to figure what is best for 2007 first. It is best for 2007 to have Miller start at the beginning of the season if they are performing similarly in ST. Could it hamper Guzman's development? Maybe-but it's not like he tore up Triple A last year. The main thing for his development coming off the injuries right now is to throw some innings. I won't be unhappy at all if Guzman breaks with the major league club-I think he's ML ready. I do, however, think if Miller is similar that gives the club the best chance at winning this year (gives them the most options) and a month or even a few more months in the minors will not likely harm Guzman significantly right now. He is just starting to find all his pitches again-he still could use some innings where he grows in confidence throwing all of them, and more than he can get in winter league, if that be the majors or the minors.
