  1. The Cubs against Seattle added 3 more runs in the 3rd. Izturis, Soriano, and Theriot got hits (Theriot a triple) and somebody else reached on an error. It's 11-4 Cubs after 3.
  2. It's 5-1 Cubs after 1 over Seattle-10 batters came to the plate in the first inning.
  3. In the other game, Miller gave up 1 hit, a hit batter, and 1 run in the first inning, but it wasn't earned because there was an error by Floyd that should have ended the inning.
  4. In retrospect, I think too much was read into that quote from a week or so ago. Lou was asked if Guzman was going to be a reliever, and Lou replied that he wasn't looking at Guzman as a reliever. Now it was taken at the time as that he'd either be a starter at Chicago or Iowa. However, it seems now that Lou was simply saying that he was considering Guzman for being a starter first. Now that Miller is the front-runner for that job, that allows Lou to start thinking of Guzman as a candidate for being a reliever instead of a starter.
  5. I have a series of situations that I need help at. I'm looking to possibly upgrade at 1B, 2B, 3B, and SP. Here are my most likely options: One player has Cano/Uggla/Durham at 2B and Morneau/Giambi (currently in his utility slot)/Helton at 1B He only has 3 OF's (Ramirez/Burrell/Crisp) Another has Pujols/Fielder/Overbay at 1B This player has absolutely no closers. A third player has David Wright/Aramis Ramirez/Troy Glaus at 3B, and his utility spot is blocked (David Ortiz). He also only has 3 OF's (Andruw Jones/Patterson/Granderson) and only 2 SP's (Rich Harden/Ervin Santana). Finally, a 4th player has 10 SP-Carpenter/Zambrano/Harang/Myers/Bedard/Sabbathia/Johnson/Verlander/Clemens He has 1 closer (Lidge), weak in the OF (Jacque Jones/Craig Monroe/Byrnes), and no bench position players whatsoever besides his Utility player (Konerko). I'm sorry for all the questions-this is a seriously messed up league right now though, and I definitely could use some help sorting through the trade options and who I should target and offer. I thought it would be better if I gave some specifics of who could possibly be had so that hopefully somebody will help me on what to offer some of these people.
  6. Unfortunately, Cuddyer is not 1B eligible in my league (a ESPN league). Thanks for the tips though, that did give me a nice starting point to think about how to shape my roster.
  7. This is a 10 team traditional 5 by 5 league-it auto drafted for me. Obviously I know I'm going to need another 1B, but if anyone could tell me the strengths and weaknesses of my team and how good they are, I would appreciate it-I am still struggling with getting used to fantasy baseball. C-Brian Mcann 1B-Nick Johnson 2B-Luis Castillo 3B-Mark Teahan SS-Bill Hall OF-Vladimir Guerrero OF-Carlos Beltran OF-Carlos Lee Util-Johnny Damon Bench-Michael Cuddyer Bench-Rocco Baldelli Bench-Edgar Renteria Bench-Nick Markakas Bench-Michael Barrett P-Roy Halladay P-Daisuke Matsuzaka P-Rich Hill P-Fransisco Rodriguez P-Bobby Jenks P-Todd Jones My initial thoughts are that this team is not good at all because it's not balanced. In fact, the computer drafted my starting 3B, 2B, and 1B in the last 3 rounds of the draft! I have some trading chips on the bench, but what value could I get for them? Edit: This is a roto league and there is a max of 120 starts between the starting pitchers.
  8. This worries me! I feel like Hendry will overrule some of the roster decisons (read Cotts). I don't read it quite as that-it is more that Lou is saying that if they make the squad, that won't worry him-but there simply might not be enough room, especially for both of them at the same time.
  9. That was completely expected. The only one who really played poorly throughout the tournament was Wisconsin (and somewhat Illinois). Purdue, Indiana, and Michigan State showed something by all winning their first round games and playing well in their second round games-they just happened to run into Florida, UCLA, and UNC respectively. I think the Big 10 showed with their performance that they did deserve all their bids and they were seeded correctly.
  10. I still don't see how you can be rooting for USC. I mean, conference allegiances I understand but they can only go so far. I don't understand rooting for a bitter rival. I don't think Illinois fans were rooting for Indiana against UCLA yesterday. I root for anything that can make my school look better-I was cheering for both Purdue and Illinois the last couple days, but I'm not cheering for Kentucky because people will not associate Kentucky being better with IU being better.
  11. Does anyone find it awkward he's only available for WGN's games? No, it's just those games were in the contract earlier. CSN decided to add a few games a month or two ago to their schedule, and by that time Brenly had apparently scheduled things for those days that he apparently didn't want to get out of.
  12. Aren't Verne and Raftery doing this game? Or am I confused? I was confused for a minute-I edited my post while you were posting this :D
  13. The announcer screaming a foul on Noah was all ball when he's watching a slow motion replay clearly showing him coming down on the arm and not the ball-that was ridiculous.
  14. Billy Donovan has a legitimate complaint there-the ball didn't hit the rim there, so by rule Florida should have had the remaining time to get a score before halftime-I think that the refs just told them that it would be a bigger hassle to get everybody back on the court to replay 1 to 2 seconds, so to please just forget about it.
  15. Pagan has been hurt the last couple of weeks-it does seem like that injury will likely cause him to miss the opening day roster at this point.
  16. I like that it is Piniella who is advocating stealing though-he is one of the best at getting a good stolen base percentage out of his team. He is one of the managers who can make the stolen base have value to a ballclub by keeping the percentage high.
  17. Oh well-IU gave a valient effort at it. This was a good first season for the program-hopefully everybody will be back (save the seniors (Wilmont/Calloway/Suhr)) and with the new additions should make the Hoosiers a tough team to beat. Congratulations to UCLA-they will be a tough out, and played a very good game with amazing energy.
  18. This is the game that IU decides to miss wide open threes-they aren't going to get them very often, they have to make them when they get them.
  19. This UCLA-Indiana game is going to be an absolute war. I am very concerned though that IU's 3 point shooting looks to be off-they need to get on, or they are going to have a tough time keeping up when some of UCLA's shots start to roll in.
  20. A 3 by Vandy gives them a 1 point lead with 1:08 left-two great finishes coming down the wire together.
  21. Agreed-that was unbelievable-it was so unbelievable that I even had to explain it to my wife (I'm watching the game on MMOD) and of course she looked at me blankly like usual when I try to describe sports events, but it was so good that I don't even care :D
  22. Grrr-my local station switched to the Vanderbilt game, and I can't see the Louisville-A&M game on MMOD because they say it's being broadcast on my local station.
  23. I was about to post the same thing-I thought that was a terrible call.
  24. Hill looks great against the left-handers, but he's not fooling the right-handers at all today.
