  6. How bad are the Big XII defenses? In the last six seasons (2002-2007) there have been six BCS conference QBs who have had a completion percentage rounding to 70% or higher (69.5%+). They are: 72% Riley Skinner, Wake Forest 2007 72% Graham Harrell, Texas Tech 2007 70% Sam Bradford, Oklahoma 2007 70% Jason Campbell, Auburn, 2004 72% Philip Rivers, NC State 2003 70% Matt Schaub, Virginia 2003 This year there are SEVEN quarterbacks in the Big XII alone that are on pace to do that. 81% Coly McCoy, Texas 76% Chase Daniel, Missouri 71% Sam Bradford, Oklahoma 70% Zac Robinson, Oklahoma State 70% Joe Ganz, Oklahoma 70% Graham Harrell, Texas Tech 70% Todd Reesing, Kansas The defenses in the big twelve are an embarrassment. they really are.
  7. um i said regular season. getting 1000 yards in 13 or 14 games isn't really being a team relying on a back. osu didnt have much of a problem running the ball versus ohio and troy without wells. usc was different because they are good. wells wouldnt have made a difference. pittman and wells didn't help them in the ncs. thats for sure. fact is you dont run to win anymore. re texas. they havent played a real defense all season long...but they wont face one until the NC... so who knows
  8. I forgot to check the Canes. Fine none of the last five have. LSU no, UF, no, UT no, USC, no, LSU no...and if you want to get technical Auburn no. The point is having a feature back isn't what it used to be for a couple of reasons. One, you don't run to win anymore. Two, with so much athleticism around the field, backs get tired more quickly (relatively speaking) and offsetting with multiple backs has become the more efficient way to run the football. It's not 1965 anymore. It's about passing the ball. The short screen passing game has replaced the running game, as well as the speed reads and to a certain extent the spring "option". Sitting up and trying to run the football with a feature back under the center just isn't the way to be good anymore.
  9. Only one team this millennium had a back rush for 1000 yards in the regular season and won the national championship. just one.
  10. its too bad being a "feature" back these days is meaningless.

  12. Five things I learned this weekend. 1. No one in the Big XII can play defense. 2. No one in the ACC should be ranked. 3. South Carolina will be dangerous the rest of the season. 4. No one in the Pac 10 outside of USC should be ranked. 5. Wisconsin is a complete disaster. Five things I knew coming into this weekend, that are becoming more apparent. 1. Missouri's defense sucks is MAC quality. 2. No one in the ACC can play QB. 3. Everyone in the SEC can play defense. 4. The offenses in the Big XII are good, but nowhere near as good as the numbers. 5. Everyone in the Big XII north is overrated. 1 and 4 came very evident at the UT game today. Missouri's secondary was clueless all game long. McCoy had 10 yard windows to throw into all night long. Top 25: 1. Texas 2. Alabama 3. USC 4. Oklahoma 5. Penn State 6. Florida 7. Georgia 8. Ohio State 9. Utah 10. Texas Tech 11. Boise State 12. Louisiana State 13. Oklahoma State 14. Brigham Young 15. South Florida 16. Texas Christian 17. Pittsburgh 18. Missouri 19. Tulsa 20. Ball State 21. Boston College 22. Florida State 23. Northwestern 24. Georgia Tech 25. Minnesota There's a lot of shakeup going on in the bottom half.
  13. Let's trade for Bay please. Unfortunately, Theo is not dumb enough to acquire Soriano. Not his type of player.
  14. Iowa's up on Wisconsin late. 38-16
  15. why do all you mouthbreathers think Johan Santana is a lot better than Jake Peavy?
  16. i could say the sun was blue and people would believe.
  17. Well that happened last year against Stanford.

  19. im gonna buy a game five ticket next year. when the cubs get eliminated in embarrassing fashion (again) im still going to show and demand entry to Wrigley at the game time.
  20. It doesn't matter. Peavy won't waive his NTC.
  21. 4 percent is a lot when the stanrdard deviation is only 2 percent.
  22. if UF kicks an extra point we're not even having this conversation, which makes this all stupid. like wins and losses.
  23. Im pretty sure Penn State played Oregon State this year. And kicked their ass. and then Oregon State kicked USCs ass. The argument may have applied in years past but those two events render it obsolete this year. Im not saying PSU is better than USC and I am not saying PSU going undefeated means theyre a top 2 team, Im just saying that you cant really gripe about PSUs non conference schedule this year, when at the end of the season well probably see the Oregon State (the best OOC PSU played) ranked ahead of OSU (the best OOC USC played) and PSU would have beaten both common opponents.
  24. That's a deal that could get it done. I go back and forth on this one. There's an argument for both sides. The question boils down to Soto's long term and short term replacements. There's a possibility that Victor Martinez and Jarrod Saltalamacchia are available, but the trade away one part and replace the part with another trade type scenarios never actually happen unless you're Billy Beane. More than likely the short term replacement would come from the free agent pool and the long term replacement is unknown. I think Greg Zaun is a decent one year replacement, but he's only good for half the games caught. The other half would be preferably a righty hitting catcher. It sure would be nice to have a second major league ready offensive catcher...you know like Matt Wieters or something!
  25. Hitter. If you guarantee the pitchers health, ill take the pitcher.
