  1. That was a hell of a game. Alabama's defense is legit. They'd stand a chance against Tech, Texas, Oklahoma and USC.
  2. Actually in that thread most of GRB's best posters defended you. Look what it got me. I wonder how that conversation would go today... after Pie's first PCL run was a lot better than Rasmus'
  3. Yeah, I see no real logic behind not calling a timeout. Extremely explosive offense with a minute to drive = good chance for a score of some type. hes got the old school mentality late in the halves. i think, with florida getting the ball to start the third quarter, he was content going into the half up a touchdown. Really right now they have given up the 10 points because of two plays. One the great kickoff coverage on james that pinned them inside the 20 and gave the tide great field position afterwards. the other the big jones play. Really after the jones play the gators went away from their defensive game plan, they got scared of jones, but really they had two defenders right on jones and he made them both miss. as long as they make tackles, they can live with giving up a 15 yard pass play here and there, not 60 yard ones. It took them about two more possessions to realize they needed to go back to the style they had started out with. Since then theyve shut down the Tide offense. The second half ought to be great. The only coach in the SEC who makes better halftime adjustments than meyer is probably saban.
  4. 17-10 at the break. This game has lived up to the hype thus far.
  5. Alabama's corners have been playing out of this world today.
  6. We have a thread on Greg Peavey? Personally, I think Greg has a very good chance to be taken in the late first round in 2010. It would be a nice pickup for the Cubs, I think,

  8. JP Wilson got leveled on that pass play. Jesus. Nick what are you doing? It's fourth and ten and a forty-nine yard field goal so you don't even send in your FG kicker on a FG attempt to run the fake...run. Could have seen that one coming a mile away. You've gotten the Gators offense off track by having their last two drives start inside the twenty. You've been winning the field position game which is the reason you have a lead in this game. You could have pinned Tebow inside the ten, now they've got good field position.
  9. Going for three there was the right move, but they started with the ball on the twenty five yard line and only got three points out of it. Alabama's not going to win this thing with field goals, I don't think. So far, the Gators have had very little success running the ball up the middle towards Mt Cody. The Pouncey twins have held up on him in obvious passing downs, thus far.
  10. Well that was quick.
  11. Florida made that drive look easy. Up until they got inside the ten it was pretty much ten yard play after ten yard play.
  12. It's going to be close. They're going to need style points today.
  13. Good times, read: http://gatewayredbirds.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=26883
  14. yes, that's what i was thinking. with fukudome being able to play center, there's no need to keep pie, even as a fourth outfielder.
  15. I'm not expecting a lot offensively. He'd be out there for his defense. If he's hitting at replacement level (or below), then you shift Fukudome to CF, put DeRosa in RF and use mighty might at 2B. The point is that we have options out there and I'm not thrilled about allocating that many resources to the options that are available on the market. If we were getting Abreu about four years ago, I would have been thrilled (and was heavily pushing for it at the time). But with my guess on what he's going to get in the market, I really don't want to pay for the declining years of a guy who has been plagued by allegations of a lack of effort throughout his career. I have no interest in Ibanez. I'd be thrilled with Dunn, but I don't think the Cubs will go there. I'd be thrilled if we traded for Hermida, but the Cubs don't have the resources to get Peavy and Hermida. Who else is there? btw - people have asked you to expound upon your disdain for Pie in the past, but I don't recall you've ever really explained the depth of your confidence that he'll not only suck but suck hard. I have. ironically enough, on GRB i was blasted for defending pie and calling rasmus and pie similar prospects prior to the 2008 season. rasmus went out and failed to beat pie's first season in AAA. .283 .341 .451 for Pie and .251 .346 .396 for Rasmus.
  16. Those would be correct, but you looked them up, or heard it somewhere.
  17. Nope. One of the guys you mentioned was hired in 2001, the other is closer.
  18. trivia question. philip fullmer was the fourth longest tenured coach coming into the season, 17 years, behind Paterno, Bowden and Beamer. name the 2 tied for fourth now. dont look it up and put pot'l answers in a spoiler.
  19. oh and the pouncey twins vs mt cody is going to be amazing. oh and the freshman matchup between julio jones and janoris jenkins is going to be a treat to watch.
  20. Did RedFlash ever accept my bet? If not, damn. Anyways, Percy Harvin's expected to be a no-go this afternoon. The rushing attack shouldn't miss a beat. The fourth option, Emmanuel Moody is seventh in the nation in yards per carry....and that's fourth on his team as three of the six ahead of them are Rainey, Demps and Harvin. Harvin will be missed a bit more in the passing game though. There's no shortage of talent on the edge. They can utilize Demps and Rainey out there if need be, but they've got a talented stable of receivers, if they haven't contributed yet. Florida's been much like 2003-05 USC as far as stockpiling skill players. Deonte Thompson, Louis Murphy and White Boy Cooper can fly and will be enough. There are a ton of other talented guys on the roster. I really doubt that the offense misses much without him.
  21. Wan't it reported somewhere like three weeks ago where the Cubs payroll could increase to about $150,000,000?
  22. i see albert pujols hitting over .300 with an obp over .400 and a slugging percentage over .500 you heard it here first.
  23. The Cubs didn't offer him arbitration. The new CBA took away the deadline afterwards where the Cubs could still sign him didn't it? Given that he can make no less than 85% of his previous salary through arby, I guess the Cubs want him very cheap if at all. Just seems that it's taking longer than I expected.
  24. not if you read this board a year ago where illini fans (who all disappeared this year) called him an outstanding coach who would lead them to bigger and better things....like nowhere.
