    I can see how BA has the Cardinals and Brewers ahead of the Cubs. I could see the 'Stros if Clemens rejoins in May or June and pitches lights out. The only big thing I notice are the Reds. There's just no way. BA certainly did not do a systematic study analyzing what the Cubs gained (and other teams lost) to determine this. It was more gut-feel than anything. Take it with a grain of salt.

    ive always thought of him as a guy who at best might just might be an average outfielder. his upside isnt all that high and his power is maybe average for a centerfielder. hes hit 15 homers in over 650 college PAs and is only 5'11". I dont think he warrants the upside to be taken in the supplemental round this year. there are a lot of hs guys id rather go after. maybe in the third or fourth round hes a good pick. If you're looking at a college outfielder at that pick, I'd take Kyle Russell over him in a heartbeat. Granted I'm probably a bit biased in this idea, but Russell has power and is pretty athletic and has a cannon for an arm. Hes already got thirteen bombs this season. He's a tough sign as he's a draft-eligible sophomore at Texas, but he's easily a better pick than Payne, in my opinion.

    well if hes not hitting 90 on the Cubs gun (the one Muskat quotes) then i dont particularily think he should be on the roster. Thats my opinion.

    i dont think so. Given BA's partnership with Baseball America that has grown over the last several years, it wouldn't shock me if they have two or three BA guys giving analysis. They wont get Allan Simpson, but they'll probably get the college correspondent, Aaron Fitt and probably the HS one, Alan Mathews. I think the BA-ESPN connection is going to make the coverage pretty good. I'd love for ESPN to get Allan Simpson. There's no one better.

    C+ There are some decisions I don't care for, but oh well. It's too early. A C+ is "above average".

    but Sean Gallagher has yet to strikeout a guy this spring. The only Cub pitcher with over three innings of work and no strikeouts is Mark Prior. Sean has worked seven innings and has none. It's only spring training, but this has me very worried about his ability to gets swing and misses against AAA/MLB hitters.

    in all seriousness, we're the cubs. it's certainly best to do what is best for guzman. the team really doesnt matter.

    most systematic approaches concluded that JP deserved the GG last year.

    what a dumb trade. we didn't need another lefty and for the love of God everyone should have known 2005 wasn't the norm with him.

    There's just no chance Price falls to the 3 pick. None. He's gonna be a good one. except he did last year, all the way to number six.
