  1. under no circumstances should we draft Justin Jackson or any player in the first round because we have an organizational need.
  2. It would be a Wilken move to go against the grain and take someone else though.
  3. Matt Murton caught in high school. We both know how quickly he would win this boards' heart behind the dish.
  4. NC State IP H R ER BB SO AB BF NP -------------------------------------------------- Andrew Brackman..... 4.0 9 6 5 3 2 20 25 96
  5. It's amazing how one week can sway an opinion.
  6. Let's face facts. He's a catcher on the wrong side of 30 in the final year of his contract. With his bat there's gotta be a taker for him. It just doesn't make sense to keep him. With the offensive moves that the Cubs have made, there's no need for his bat with his terrible defense. We may just have a guy better than him as it is. Look at the Cardinals. Yadier Molina can't hit, but look at the crappy pitchers who have success in St Louis. Coincidence? Of course not. Michael Barrett needs to go. We can give the job to say Jake Fox who homered twice today and is cheap. Sure he may not be as good as Barrett today, but if we replace Barrett with Fox and trade Barrett for someone good it's a great move. Besides Barrett's glove sucks.
  7. Tony Pena Jr did it on opening day.
  8. not the debut he wanted.. Player IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA Veal 3.2 6 5 5 3 2 0 12.27
  9. Is this one of the quickest retirement of a jersey number? Anyways he certainly deserves it. Bagwell's one of the greatest all-around 1B in history. He's just as good of a person
  10. Inman's also Brewerfan.net's #3 rated prospect. I'd take their opinion over BAs any day of the week.
  11. Will Inman is starting for the Manatees. He's probably Milwaukees second best pitching prospect and third best prospect. He went 10-2 1.71 with a 134:24 K:BB last season in 110 innings.
  12. Nice to see Dope with another knock.
  13. I didn't post it on my blog and I don't have it here :( The foreign born one is a good one, but expand it. Don't look at the marketability of the game. Look at the on the field success. If you do that you'll have another wave of data to look at, the negro leagues joining. If I remember correctly, the teams that were at the forefront of opening up to new markets are usually the teams that win. There was a pretty damn high correlation between the number of african americans on your team to success in the 1950s. Theres an issue as most AAs at the time were the elite ones from their leagues. You saw a similar thing with the beginning of Latin America's arrival. It remains to be seen about Japan. This is a different case entirely though. There's a perfectly fine major league quality league to play at home.
  14. I did a paper on the how much the market values certain skillsets and changes over the last fifteen years. There's a lot of data and unsurprisingly enough there was a huge change around 2000. The OBP "revolution" happened before Moneyball from the data I got, although it was Cashman. There's a lot of information to use looking at that. Unfortunately all of my data is at home on my other laptop.
  15. Truth be told, not expecting so much out of Daytona tonight.
  16. From what I hear, the Florida girls go crazy for Rocco Baldelli.
  17. that shouldnt even be stats 101, it should be common sense 101
  18. His system has always produced a higher standard deviation among wins. Just look at the Yankees predictions the last few seasons 2007 110 2006 102 2005 113 2004 117 2003 110 2002 102 2001 98 2000 96 1999 108 1998 94 In 2005 he also predicted the Red Sox to win 107. In 2004 he had the Red Sox at 106. In 2003 he had the Mariners and Red Sox at 106 too.
  19. You had Samardzija there earlier! Atkins is getting thursday, Jeff on Friday.
  20. heh anyone who questions his manhood forgets who carried the cubs into the 2003 playoffs.
  21. because its too cold. stupid socal freaks.
