  1. Lee has said he wants to play for the Cubs just so he can stick it to the White Sox. He also still has a home in Chicago. Do you think we could get him at a reduced rate? And why would an inter-divison trade be made by either side??
  2. In the same lineup with Pujols + Cardinal magic = Carlos Lee becoming best NL OF for the next 5 years if he joins STL ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ And w/ Edmonds and Rolen, the Cardinals become the modern-day version of Murderer's row
  3. Agreed. I get more smack talked to be because my "hometown" is Saint Louis but I root for the teams from the western side of the state (Royals and Chiefs) but hate the teams from the eastern side of the state (Cards and Rams). It really irks Cardinal fans that I'm "from" Saint Louis and despise the Cardinals. I wish the Royals would decide to field a good team and perhaps Columbia would feel less like Cardinals territory. Parts of Illinois feel like Cardinals territory as well. Carbondale feels like it.
  4. I give him a 6. He helped us sweep the Cardinals opening week, and he lived up to his White Sox killer reputation in the Cubs-Sox series.
  5. Let the kid celebrate. It was his 1st MLB HR and it tied the game!!
  6. You can't be obnoxius. I know a girl who is a huge Cubs fan and she has lived in Cardinals territory her entire life and she no problems. She wears Cubs gear a lot, but they don't give her hell. Is she hot? Yes.

Where does she live? I get crap all the time when I wear my Cubs hat and/or shirts. I think it's funny though. I just laugh at them and try to take advantage of weekends like this if anyone says anything. She came from Quincy, IL, and is going to Missouri-Columbia in the fall.

  9. If we can trade him to an AL team, that'd be good. An AL Central team would be even better.
  10. I wouldn't know. I'm only 17. :P :D
  11. I haven't been watching much of the games. That always happens, that they win when I'm not watching. In 2003, for the entire September/October run, they would win easily when I couldn't watch the game, and they'd either lose or Borowski would give everyone a heart attack in the 9th when I did watch.
  12. And 2 of them have been against the Cubs!!!
  13. not true... A few years ago Matheny cut his hand with a hunting knife right before the playoffs...that was a huge deal for the pitching staff. The year we traded for Rolen he is in a collision and out of the playoffs. Last year Sanders was one of our best post season hitters and went down hard and our best setup man, Al Reyes, went down the last day of the season. These are just a few of our post season injuries not to mention the reguler season injuries that the Cardinals do go through. They just seem to get through them and keep winning so you do not hear about them as much. Injuries are only an excuse when you do not work through them and win some games. I was talking about freak things like Prior taking a line drive off the elbow, Furcal ramming into Lee, etc. Not things like cutting a hand on a hunting knife or tearing an elbow.
  14. I think I know what game you're talking about. It was on Mother's Day a coupe of years ago. That was the same game that J.D. Drew pulled a muscle and was put on the DL. I remember Chip/Steve and Pat/Ron all agreeing that the game should have been called a lot earlier because of playing conditions. He tore ligaments in his ankle, missed 100 games, and ironically, his 1st game off the DL was that game that was being made-up.
  15. We also need to play the triangle defense game and prevent Craig Wilson from going to St. Louis as a replacement for Pujols.
  16. That was a shot...feels weird rooting for the Reds, I have grown to dislike them over the past couple seasons...Anything to see the Cards lose! Izzy is in trouble! It only feels a little dirty...anyone playing the cards is my 2nd favorite team....I don't wish bad things on anyone....but sometimes I make exceptions for the cards and their fans. It's always nice when the Cardinals lose.
  17. except for our pitchers - they aren't allowed to be sore. Only Prior, who's a big baby and can't tell the difference b/t pain and soreness.
  18. While I would have to agree with that statement, you are forgetting that Dusty was on deck when Aaron hit 715. He deserves an extension on that alone. Give him three more years! He's also a 3-time manager of the year and he was the toast of town in 2003. That merits a lifetime commitment!!!
  19. Read the qoute in my sig. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)
  20. LaRussa is a competant manager who will find a way to adapt. The guy does his homework and will find a way to make them more of a scrap team like the 2003 Marlins whose only major power was Lowell. And the Lee and Pudge stepped up when Lowell was out.
  21. Dusty's man love for unproductive veterens and Cubs unwillingness to make Wood a reliever = Marshall being sent to AAA or bullpen, and the Cubs screwing up something good. What I think
  22. I bet we're still going to extend Dusty even if the Cardinals win w/o Pujols and Edmonds for an extended time. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)
  23. Aside from Vince Coleman being clobbered by a tarp, the Cardinals have had much better luck than the Cubs.
  24. Mavs. I don't really like the Heat after what they did to the Bulls.
  25. You could also say if Eyre hadn't flipped the ball, Lee wouldn't miss 2 months.
