1. This isn't Venezuela - it's America. You've lived here long enough to understand what our words mean. 2. I didn't realize hateful slurs had different meanings in different regions. I know one of the WNBA's biggest stars, Swoopes, is openly gay, but is that really something to list to prove you're not homophobic - women's basketball? Madonna? His entire "apology" is fantastic and hillarious. First, the venezuela thing. It's a defense that a derogatory term for homosexual has different connotations in his home country that he's lived out of for most of his life? (example: When I said the team played like crap, I meant "crap" in the way we meant it back home, that they literally smelled bad while playing) Secondly, the WNBA, Madonna, and gay friends... It's like a parody of an apology. And rabbit, my guess on the WNBA is that he's aware of how homosexual the fan base for it is. It actively markets to the homosexual community. Really... I hadn't heard much about that. But even so. Can you imagine him calling a reporter the N-word and then going on to say that it means something different in Venezuela and that he has black friends and goes to Dr. Dre concerts? It's pathetic. Suspend and fine the guy. Well said. Or some Asian reporter a "chinaman" and say it means something else in Venezuela and that he has Asian friends and watches Yao Ming. The guy needs to be suspended at least a month.
