Now what did he do? Took the trainer with him so he could talk to Carpenter at first base. There was zero indication there was anything close to wrong with him, even McCarver picked up on the ploy. Carpenter is being taken out of the game now by the trainer. Seems like La Russa was being quite honest.....unless he's just trying to save face.

One of the biggest reasons why the Yankees are hated outside New York is that people see them as just "buying" their players, and putting little emphasis in player development. They exist in a huge media market, and obviously have more money than any other team in baseball. They can splurge and outbid for top-notch talent. Now consider if the Cubs did this for one year. Would you care if the Cubs just outbid everyone in the free agent market to sign high priced players to possibly form a championship caliber team? Or would you think that such an idea is unfathomable since it would make the Cubs no better than those damn Yankees?

Against a righty, I don't let Nevin hit. However, I agree that Cedeno cannot come up to bat this inning.

I don't know for sure why either-he could have replaced him, put Pagan in right and Murton in left after the inning. I'm so tired of Dusty...it's an easy call to bring in Nevin to counter the lefty, besides we all know Jones can't hit lefties...except Dusty apparently. Also why does he not start Murton and bat him 2nd???? Dusty's the anti-La Russa.
