    From what I've heard, he was lucky to have so many good players on his team, and regularly mocks the use of statistics in baseball. Just listen to him provide color commentary during the Oakland series. RISP, hit and runs, stolen bases-these are the things he favors. He mocked OBP and had no idea what WHIP was. Sounds like Dusty all over again. I'd rather have a manager than knows about the numbers.

    He just missed joining an elite group of players with less K's than HR's. Dimaggio did that five years in a row.

    Yeah, Pierre led the league in hits, but his OBP is only .330. If you rank the NL hits leaders, you have to go all the way down to 21st (Jeff Francoeur, in a three way tie) to find a player with a lower OBP.

    How so? Cause now the Cubs might consider Theriot as the starting 2B. That's risky, since Theriot doesn't even have one major league season under his belt and he's putting up numbers in the majors that he's never put up int he minors. But if Theriot sucked, the Cubs might go out and spend for a major FA like Soriano. There are no question marks with Soriano. I'm not saying that Theriot won't be a good 2B next season, I'm just saying it's risky.

    That was a funny no-hit bid. A few errors cost the Orioles a run there. Some of them might have been hits had the situation been different.....which got me thinking. A no-hit bid late in the game vs. a guy in the midst of a 30+ game hit streak. Who would get the benefit of the doubt between a close error/hit call by the official scorer?

    How big is the parking lot located at Devry University? It's listed on the cubs website here. Does it get filled up quickly, cause that's where I'll probably park.

    I want Matt Murton to bat 2nd. I never want him to bunt. Ever. Never ever. it is a bit short sighted to say that any player should never bunt. bunting can be a big part of the game if used properly. i've seen puljos bunt and if he can do it so can murton (in the right situation). I'm sorry, but having the best hitter in the league lay down a sac bunt is probably the stupidest thing I have heard. If it was a decision by Pujols, then La Russa needs to give him a talk. If it was a decision by La Russa or a coach, then they are pretty incompetent (to put it lightly).

    Jeter's a candidate cause he has the numbers. Sure, the Yankees would still be a playoff team without Jeter, but he does have the numbers.

    Off topic, but based on this information, has their been any analysis done on when it would be advantageous to bunt, as opposed to swinging away? Any sabermatric guys out there?
