  1. Lou has been waiting to break up the two left-handers in the rotation ever since they got put together. Plus, they decided that they'd rather let Guzman get his first start out of the way at home against a worse offense than have to face a team like the Phillies at their place for his first start. What's so positive about breaking up lefties? A good pitcher is a good pitcher no matter who starts before or after.
  2. C'mon, Cubs...one more man reaches base, and it's a good chance that Lee gets another AB to try to extend his doubles streak!!
  3. With a 4th hand on the phone. Word around my office via St. Louis is that he was texting back and forth with one of the strippers from the club, with the last text not long before the crash. Some CardinalDugout forum member says it was his g/f.
  4. I'm not so sure Zambrano gets traded. Besides, CC Sabathia is also going to be on the market if the Indians are out of it, and Rich Harden will probably also be on the market. I don't think the Cubs are ballsy enough to do it, but I'd still move Z for an impact bat, then try and trade off Jones and a reliever and a couple prospects for a starter. Imagine if we did something like Z for A-Rod then got Harden for EPatt + a pitching prospect(of varying value depending on what the view of Harden's health is from Veal/Gallagher to someone like Adkins). Soriano Murton A-Rod Lee Ramirez Barrett Pie DeRosa Hill,Harden,Lilly,Marquis,Guzman/other young arm It'd be a gamble on Harden's health, but with that offense... With that lineup, I could be pitching and we'd win. A-Rod has to be rusty at short though.
  5. Looks like the cliff I was about to jump off afterwards.

  7. The things that sucks is that the Cubs still haven't won a 1-run game.
  8. I guess he couldn't afford it after that whopping $500 fine LaRussa laid on him for showing up late, hungover, and unable to pitch last Thursday after his first accident. Keep in mind that the cops did not think he was drunk when he got into his accident on Thursday morning. Also, there are no reports he was at any strip club. if he was at that neighborhood at 5:30 AM, then the strip club(s) was the safest and most legal place(s) he could have been. Hancock says he usually goes out to drive late at night to get himself tired enough to rest. I know that sounds as implausible to you as it does to me, but that's what he said to the cops. Where did you hear that? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2854743

  11. All my sympathy for Hancock went straight out the window when more and more evidence surfaces that he was drunk when he got into his fatal accident.
  12. If the Cubs wanted, they could not pitch Guzman until May 12th. Why would they give him an extra start on May 6th against the Nationals?
  13. Yeah, it's a play born out of the situation, not fielding skill. Still...unassisted triple play is sweet to hear.

  15. You always pitch your best available starter. Tomorrow, that'll be Hill.
  16. Thank god that off day lets us skip our fifth starter.
  17. My life is complete now that I have seen ARod bat.
  18. I got a Mio Digiwalker c220 that I could sell him for $190. I'm serious.
  19. Are the Cubs the worst baserunning team of all time? I'm guessing yes.
  20. Wow...I was flipping channels between the Bulls and the Cubs. When the Cards had first and third, no outs in the eighth, the Heat were coming back against the Bulls. I was sure that both would go from winning to losing in a matter of minutes. Then, when Dempster got the last out in the eighth, the Bulls were pulling away a little bit. Talk about an emotional rollercoaster in the span of a few minutes....
  21. Normally that would be encouraging, but since they are the CUBS, they turn encouraging stats into a 5-8 record.
  22. No, you're not. You're not the only one who doesn't give two craps about the Red Sox either.
  23. Are you seriously suggesting DLee as a leadoff hitter? You might want to lay off the meth. I like the lineup posted by the thread starter, except I would flip Theriot and Murton. DLee's stats this year are absolutely perfect for a leadoff hitter.
  24. Where's Sean Marshall?
