  1. According to ESPN, it is not Marcus Giles, but Brian Giles that is being fined. It was Marcus in the infield, right? Was Brian even playing? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2908417 That ESPN article is definitely wrong. Was Brian Giles even at the game?
  2. Let me add Nolan Ryan's 7 career no-hitters and 5,714 career strikeouts to this list.
  3. What's lost in this whole thing is that both Derrek Lee and Chris Young were basketball players: Lee was recruited by Dean Smith and Young played at Princeton.
  4. Pujols admires his homers a lot more than Soriano. Remember the 2005 NLCS?
  5. Is that a superstition or does he sweat like a waterfall?
  6. Damn...I was dreading this after I saw Soriano backtracking to 1st base yesterday. So why didn't Young throw at Soriano?
  7. This is pretty funny. Greinke got another win of the same ilk today vs. the Cards. Link
  8. When you got Edmonds hitting in cleanup, you know you got problems.
  9. I would like to see a video clip of this.
  10. Wow, that's ridiculous. Not really. You're telling me that since there were 15 balls hit into play for Verlander and all of them were recorded as outs aren't lucky? There were 9 balls hit into play for Escobar and only four of them were recorded as outs. You tell me which player is more likely to have success. I was saying that 14/18 outs were K's is ridiculous.
  11. Wow, that's ridiculous.
  12. Z must have cut open Barrett's brain and sucked out what remained of Michael's hitting prowess. You watch Heroes too much.
  13. Darn, I had hoped it would be a 7-day eBay auction.
  14. If I had it my way, Wins by a pitcher would be 5%....or less.
  15. Cubs win big, lose small. Cards win small, lose big.
  16. It is the official scorer's discretion because nobody qualifies for the win based on normal rules. The starter doesn't earn the win because he failed to go five innings and none of the relievers automatically qualify for the win because none of them were in the game when the team took the lead. So does that mean that the official scorer could actually give the starter the win if the scorer deemed the starter as the most effective pitcher? No. Was this changed? I thought I rememberred a guy getting a win as the starter in less than 5 innings when he left early due to injury or something. I may b making this up. I'm not sure if the rule changed or not, but this is what the official rulebook states as Rule 10.17 (b). The gist of the rule is that the winning pitcher is always the pitcher who was pitching when their winning team took the last lead of the game EXCEPT when that pitcher: From the bolded part, a relief pitcher will get the win in this case.
  17. Well, that's about the most popular reason to hit a guy, behind hitting a guy because they hit one of yours. Actually, I don't think it was the 3 HR's that made them want to hit Soriano, it was him trying to stretch a single into a double with a significant lead. Although, anyone who regularly watches Cubs baseball should know that even a 6-7 run lead isn't a big enough one to be comfortable with knowing our bullpen. And that pretty much gave the Braves an out. Soriano was nowhere close to second when the throw came in. The Braves should be thanking him and our team for being such horrible baserunners.

  19. I'd say he was effective: 6 outs recorded, 5 by strikeouts.
  20. It seems kinda random to me. Link
  21. Yeah!! Let's bust this thing wide open and start beaning some Braves!!
  22. Hell, Lou getting suspended again might actually be good for the Cubs.
  23. Indeed. What happened? Hudson beaned Soriano on the first pitch of the game last night. Pretty obvious it was intentional. Now why would Hudson do that? Sarcasm I hope right? Well, Soriano did hit 3 HR's against them...but really, how does that warrant payback? It's not like he was showboating.
